Another advantage to the "white gas" stove (if it's the same as the old coleman lanterns) is you could use unleaded gasoline in it in a pinch. That may not seem like that much of an advantage but if you were backpacking and happened upon a place that either didn't sell the butane canisters or were out of stock you could most likely still buy gasoline. Also that would be a plus in a preppers or bug out situation in my opinion

I use a 14$ primus stove with your average camping pot or pan and I can cook all the same stuff as on my range, but only one pan or pot at a time.
