FROM THE ARTIST:

Internationally acclaimed Norwegian-born singer Sissel performed "Slow Down," by Chuck Girard and arranged by Sam Cardon, during the 2019 Pioneer Day Concert with The Tabernacle Choir and Orchestra at Temple Square. This was a stand-out moment in the concert that brought on many tears and a standing ovation each night. Sissel expresses emotion and meaning through lyrics and music like no other.

Lyrics:
In the midst of my confusion
In the time of desperate need
When I am thinking not too clearly
A gentle voice does intercede

Slow down, slow down, be still
Be still and wait, on the Spirit of the Lord
Slow down and hear His voice
And know that He is God

In the time of tribulation
When I'm feeling so unsure
When things are pressing in about me
Comes a gentle voice so still, so pure

Slow down, slow down, be still, my child
Be still and wait, on the Spirit of the Lord
Slow down and hear His voice
And know that He is God
And know that He is God

Audiences still have not forgotten Sissel’s stunning performances at the Choir and Orchestra’s 2006 Christmas concerts and still regard her as one of the favorite guests of the Choir. The concert was shown in 2007 on PBS stations to 4 million viewers around the country. The Christmas CD, Spirit of the Season, was #1 on Billboard’s Classical chart for nine weeks and was nominated for two Grammy® awards.

I was actually privileged to be at this concert when she sang this. It was so mesmerizing, the entire conference center was silent. As soon as she stopped, 18, 000 people were on their feet cheering and clapping. One of the most amazing nights of my life.

You aren't kidding - everything came together to create pure magic for that performance. The song and lyrics are great, but her performance and the support from the choir, orchestra, as well as the audience being transformed on the spot, turned it into a universal experience of peace and hope that speaks to every human heart and soul, religion or not.

She sang like angel when she was very young too. She’s a natural talent.

Sublime. That's the word and why music was created to speak to the human spirit.

BEST SONG EVER! From Sissel, from the orchestra, and from the choir. And the fact that they let Sissel's voice be the star of this performance is exceptional. Thanks for sharing this.

The whole thing, Sissel, the orchestra, and the Tabernacle Choir, were top notch talented. But there is more, something deeper, something about the music, the message, and the belief of those performing, that sent a powerful spiritual message that pierced everyone’s heart and our very soul. The people who came to that concert, came to feel something and they were not disappointed. I know that I have sought to feel the Spirit of the Lord from this song and I felt it. I could feel God’s presence, his love, that He is with me even when life is hard or I’m sad, etc. If I am still enough and seek Him in prayer, I can feel His Holy Spirit and that is what I felt when she sang that song.

I'm late commenting to this because I had no idea that there were reaction videos to this song. I was there that night. It's hard to find the words, but you are correct. It was perfection. It was as if, just for a moment, everything stopped and every person there could feel heaven joining us. I just can't describe it any other way. It was a prayer that was sung. If anyone ever doubted that there was a heaven and a God, all they have to do is listen to this particular performance of this song. The doubts would be washed away. I listen to this song a lot...even 4 years later. It's truly one of those songs that heals the soul.

I glad to hear that you feel exactly as I’ve been telling all of my friends! “ The most beautiful song that you have never heard “ it is as though God is speaking directly to us through her amazing voice!

Many do not know that she sang that song in the LDS Conference Center which may be the largest hall of its kind in the world. The Center seats about 21, 000 people and it was filled to capacity. Very few artists get to perform in such a center with this size audience.

Subscribed, good job! I see her over someone dying, singing this. Isn't she the best singer ever? I think she's the best on the planet.
