Can You Escape The Goblin? [Math Puzzle]

This was a fun puzzle that I ended up making a game for to help me solve it.

There is my solution from a programmer's point of view:

Look directly at the goblin, turn exactly 180 degrees and swim fowards in a perfect straight line.

The goblin is now stuck at NaN position

The goblin can't swim, so if you pull him into the water, he would be too busy drowning to eat you.
(I'm assuming the goblin wouldn't reach in and pull you out, but you could reach out and pull him in.)

I love that the instant you get on land, even if you’re an inch away from the goblin, he just goes “Oh, I guess you beat me, have a nice day” and let’s you leave unharmed.

I couldn't get this strategy to work manually, but what if you go right next to the centre, and then head directly away from the goblin on a zigzag path so the goblin keeps doubling back on itself, since the shortest path to where you're headed switches very quickly between clockwise to anticlockwise?
Close to the centre this should be easy since small movements from you create big movements in your nearest shore point, it gets harder as you get closer to shore. But maybe once it stops working you're close enough at that point that you can make it...

Edit: Upon closer inspection, the point at which it stops working is the edge of that inner circle. My implementation can escape 3.5 and 4.0, but can't quite get 4.2

Funny thing is that I have actually lived through this puzzle. When I was a kid, I was swimming in my aunt’s pool, and then I realized that her massive dog was watching me from the border. Whenever I tried to escape, he got there much faster. I was lost af lol
