Katmai National Park - Brooks Camp - Close Encounter With Three Coastal Brown Bears

While hiking back from Brooks Falls this summer the wife and I had a close encounter with three Alaskan Coastal Brown Bears. The bears always have the right-of-way and you are required to move off the trail to allow them to pass. As in this case, the forest can often be very thick and can prevent you from retreating as far as you might like. Fortunately the bears at Brooks Camp are accustomed to human encounters like this and barely seemed fazed.
