"Welcome to Dead House" and "The haunted Mask II" are inarguably the scariest. They have some of the best budget and effects of the whole series. The ending of "Welcome to Dead house" where the townsfolk all descend upon the family and start breaking through the walls and floors to corner them and eat them; has to be some of the most creepy imagery the series ever produced. As well as the attitude of the dead. They move slow and relish the chase; knowing that there is nowhere for this family to go and their fate in seemingly inevitable. They've done this numerous times before.. it's not just a meal for them- it's a game. They are like a cat that plays with its food before eating it....

Werewolf skin is a close runner-up for creepiest.

Okay okay but the one that really scared me as a kid was “The Scarecrow Walks at Midnight”

I have no idea why but as a kid basements scared so much. My childhood home didn’t have one and I didn’t know anyone with one.

So basically I just avoided “stay out of the basement” like a plague. I ended up watching it when I was older and really loved it, but never committed to reading the book. I never knew the book was so messed up. It had one of the kids axe to death the plant clone of their father. Even if it was a plant, it still looked exactly like their father and I couldn’t imagine going through that.

“The Haunted Mask” was the scariest for me as a kid and it’s probably still my one. It’s so good!

The Ghost Next Door was my all-time favorite. It wasn't the scariest but it had a twist that left my jaw on the floor. Also the ending was bittersweet.
