Muhammad Yunus sworn in as head of Bangladesh’s government

Bangladesh's new leader, Muhammad Yunus, has declared that restoring law and order is his top priority. Yunus' interim government has assumed control following weeks of violent crackdowns on student-led protests. These widespread demonstrations ultimately led to the resignation of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, who has since fled to India.

Honestly, this is the first time I’ve been truly proud of my country. Never thought I’d see the day that Hasina gets ousted. Dr. Yunus is an absolutely brilliant human being, and is an amazing choice for the head of the interim government. We just need to make sure the Bangladeshi National Party does not have any involvement in the future government. They are just as bad as the Awami League. And I hope that Hasina comes back to Bangladesh in chains. This is a very promising new start for Bangladesh. We just need to ensure that we build every aspect of the government from the ground up, and that religion plays no part in the governance of the country.
