A fire broke out on the Carnival Freedom cruise ship early Thursday morning while docked in the eastern Caribbean.

the people filming this on the ship next to it don't realize how lucky they are that the wind was blowing in that direction.

You would have thought that the funnels would be fitted with a fire suppressant system, especially when they aren't accessible by the crew, as shown by their feeble attempts to put fire hoses on the fire!

There needs to be "fire suppression" in the ship's funnel to extinguish the fire flames and smoke. Those hoses don't seem to be even close to reaching the fire. There is a 30 foot gap between the fire and the water from the hoses. There would be nothing worse than being literally in the middle of the ocean, on a ship with thousands, and it catches fire.

I was one of the passengers who was on board when the fire happened. I was just waking up due to a load noise when the alarm went off. They got everyone ready to evacuate with in ten minutes of the fire starting. Luckily we didn't need to and things clamed down pretty quickly. Didnt even know how big the fire was till I saw the damage.

this same thing happened on the carnival trimuph and carnival splendor years ago. The difference and lucky factor is that those ships were at sea while this ship now was docking at port. These things happen mechanical failure strikes without warning.

The funny part is that when I was on the shore of grand turk, people from the freedom just said their happy that they get free tickets and 3 extra hours at grand turk lmao. (I was on the Mardi gras.)

Isn't this a sister of the not so famous Costa Concordia? And sister of Carnival Splendor badly damaged due to engine room fire? Concuest Class. Quality made in Italy.
