I sell lots of records and have been collecting records for 30+ years. I always ship with a fresh inner and outer sleeve. I use a sheet of bubble wrap on both sides. I think the key take-away though, is to ship the vinyl outside of the cover to avoid split seams. I charge $4 flat to ship records. They’re usually $2.80 or $3.33 via media mail and that extra cost covers my materials pretty well.

Good stuff. I like the fact that you said that the most important thing is "what does the buyer want?". We need to keep this in mind with ALL our products. Thanks.

Kevin, I can not THANK YOU enough for the Enemans I bought for my nieces and nephews as Christmas presents back in the spring. My niece who is now 15 took it out of her box, looked at her Dad (like what did Crazy Aunt Cami get me now?) hahaha and he explained to her what Fleet was and she suddenly squealed, jumped up and ran to go show her grandparents who were in the kitchen cooking. She kept saying over and over it was her mostest favorite gift ever LOL My 2 nephews first said "Ewwww" as they were eaves dropping but then I told them it was "To keep things moving" and OMG you would have thought I had given them puppies cause they were then sitting around holding them with such pride as they ate and watched the football game hahaha They were more excited over Eneman than they were the 16oz Vando PacMan glasses hahaha (I got them at the charity thrift store for $0.10 each new in their original packaging hahaha). Again THANK YOU for creating a wonderful Christmas memory hahaha a Fleet Eneman hahaha

I was really blessed at Christmas. My Brother came and picked me up (since I can't drive anymore haven't since 2005 when I became disabled, I am only 58) and I spent the afternoon with his In Laws, they are so much fun. Then I had to be back here at my apartments at 5 because one of my neighbors had some of us loners come over for Christmas dinner of Prime rib, Lemon meringue pie, tons of cookies and my caramel pie YES I ate too much hahaha but we had the grandest time, me and 4 other neighbors, I figured I was going to struggle badly this Christmas season but I had so many people helping me. God is so good!
Loveg yall very much <3 tal God Bless and Happy New Year

After putting the record in the new inner sleeve, I would put the original inner sleeve back into the outer sleeve. That's just asking to get bent while packing especially if it's already showing signs of splitting. For some, that's almost as important as the condition of the outer sleeve. And it's one less thing to worry about.

Thanks for doing this. Can you do one on how you would ship a pennant?

I always make sure my clear poly protector is sealed at the top. When I place the record between the cardboard fillers always make sure you tape all four sides. Don't use packing tape it's to hard to get off. I always use masking tape. Collectors get very picky on how you pack the Record.

I feel like I over tape everything that I sell but I know its not going to open up in transit

Nice how to video! This is a good way to send cheaper records, but for the more expensive ones, I would use a bigger box for corner protection. If this box lands on a corner at anytime during the shipping process, the corner damage will transfer to the record sleeve. I've cut my own mailers by using 2 pieces of cardboard that wrap around the record first wrap is snug and fits record side to side, and 2nd piece wraps around the open sides, but is about 1inch bigger from side to side to give it corner protection.

I very recently purchased cardboard for the 1st time. I used to mail records sandwiched between 2 pieces of cardboard I'd get from a furniture store. But I been getting a lot of records lately and also picked up some laserdisc and decided I'm tired of cutting cardboard out. Sometimes speed and convenience is worth losing a few cents here and there.

I sell media too. LP's and reel to reel.
When I ship a record, no matter price, I ship them all like this:
Package the sleeve, record, inner sleeve just like you. I do NOT use stiffeners, I use a sheet of bubble on EACH side of the record, against the shipping box. I've never had a damaged record. The ONLY way I would use a stiffener, is IF it's getting sent international. Doing it my way, you can get records to ship at the 1# media rate. Otherwise you are at the 2# rate. I use the eBay record boxes, because I get them free. I like yours, but they aren't $49, your link is $64. I found some other ones in the suggestion for $58.
I set my record weight at 1.3 #'s and ship for $4 flat media US, and calculated international (this is for single LP's with slip covers) . Gatefolds and double/triples are higher.
Hope that helps Kevin.

The problem with buying the proper supplies is you need to buy large quantities to get decent prices, which just does not make sense for someone like me that sells one a month.
