The Role of Palliative Care and Hospice in ALS
Показать описание
The question of when a person with ALS should shift their focus to comfort care is a difficult one. Palliative care can help with symptoms as they become burdensome, but as it becomes clear that end of life is approaching, then involving hospice can be very helpful.
Drs. Caroline Crooms and Robin Plumer, and Elizabeth Stanton, MSN/Ed will address the differences between palliative and hospice, and how together they provide a team approach with a great deal of support for both the family and patient. Additionally, as NJ patients now have the option for medical aid in dying, we will discuss eligibility for MAiD and some of the particular nuances that apply to ALS patients.
