I’ve been on home peritoneal dialysis for two and a half years now, and I never had a problem with pruritus until recently after I moved. About a month after I moved, I started to feel itchy, then the little red bumps appeared. It seem like the more I scratched it the more it itched, especially at night. Thought maybe it could be the new fabric softener I was using. So I stopped using fabric softener all together. But the itchy persisted. After a couple of months of itching, I was desperate to find something to relieve it. I’m the middle of the night I got up and put some Exsept (that’s my exit site cleaner) on one of my island dressings along with some antibiotic cream. Then next night I did it again. I couldn’t believe that after 3 days the rash and itching were almost completely gone. I do this method now every time I have a break out. I’m telling you it works. Of course your still going to have a break out, and probably in a different area, but he results were unbelievable.
Also I’d like to add that before I moved out, the home I was in had city water with lots of chlorine. After the move my water is now well water with a water softener. I’m thinking is it possible that maybe the chlorine helped me from getting pruritus… 🤔 hmmm
