Nice charger. I was going to get one. I was talking about it to my wife. I said yes she said no. So we compromised. She bought some plants and 10 yards of dirt. End of story. Hahaha

I'm sold. All the newer off-the-shelf "smart" chargers suck. Many won't even turn on and attempt to charge if the battery voltage is too low. Give me an old school "dumb" charger any day.

We have that same charger at work. It’s about 18 years old now and still works like new. It replaced another one, same model that had been around for probably 20 years until a 983 Cat loader backed over it. We changed the wheels on it, from the little ones it came with, to a set of 14 inchers. Makes rolling it over gravel and ruts much easier.

Wish they had a small unit for people like me that collect garden tractors and have over 30 batteries in my collection LOL

No wonder this battery charger is expensive. It actually works. Consumer grade battery chargers used to work fairly reliably, but that was way back when Sears Roebuck competed with Montgomery Wards.

I have a snap on I purchased around 1983. It was the largest 12 volt charger they had with a 550 amp boost and 70 amp charge plus it can be used outdoors in any weather, rain doesn't affect it. It also has the built in polarity checker in the ground clamp.

I use an 1970’s - 1980’s 120 volt to 12 volt converter from an old motorhome. Just added a timer switch, grounded power plug and heavy duty jumper cables for the output. These are heavy duty weighing in at about 40 pounds and will charge just about any battery even if it is completely dead. They also have a regulated 12 volt output if needed.

I just picked up a used 6006 model made by Associated. I ran across it in a classified sales site and showed it to the shop boss who wanted to lowball the seller and get it for the shop I work at. Instinct told me the seller would not haggle over price, so I just threw down on it for myself. Associated is top quality, I never even HEARD OF them before this one!

All the municipalities I have visited use that exact model of charger. Our charger is subjected to a lot of dust, salt, moisture and steady use. Paint on the bottom areas is peeling. It still functions the way it should.

I have a Century charger over 30 years old, still works. It even has 100 amp boost to start vehicles.

I removed the stock cables and ran 20 feet of 2/0 cable. I also removed the clamps, put 1400 amp clamps on, and put # 4 cable to each jaw so both are hot.
I am not sure I would put it on high on a car on a high setting as sometimes it will put out 17 volts and pop the ECM breaker.

# 2 low 13.9 volts
#3 15.5 volts
#4 16.6 volts
Hi 17 volts
Boost mode 18.5 volts

I have one that i pulled out of the scrap pile over 20 years ago. Made some minor repairs on it and have been using it ever since. Replaced the timer a couple of years ago.

You are rite on the money! The very first shop I worked at in the mid 80's had one of those chargers. Same box same wheels same handle with the cross bar to attach the cable clamps and it looked like it was 25 years old back then. Charged every thing from a four 12 volt old Pete to the shop forklift flawlessly remember it as soon as you rolled it out, VERY BEST CHARGER !

I have an Associated Charger in my home garage. Probably overkill, but I wont have to turn around in 5 years to get another one anymore. Just got tired of the cheap chargers. I'm an Amateur Astronomer and my big scopes run on car batteries. I've found that I do alot more charging for everyone in the family because they know my charger will get the job done, and fast.

When I started wrenching in 1969 the place I worked for had two chargers one a sun the other was associated they were old when I started there the died 4 years later I worked there to 1976 and it still worked great we also had a starting unit in a pickup from associated it always worked and it was not new either those two were still worked well when I moved to a better job. I was living in Minnesota then so they had a workout all winter long.

On my 1999 f250 I have a boat onboard charger 2x12volt charger. Not fast but charges and maintains batteries like a braze. I can keep it hooked up and only charge them when I plug it in.

I have the similar model charger from the early 80’s. The cord and leads had begun to crack and rot from age so it was being thrown away. On its way to the dumpster it took a detour into my pickup instead of the dumpster. With a little electrical tape it’s served me well for the last 7 years, and I don’t anticipate junking it any time soon.

We have one of these exact models at work and it's probably older than I am but still works like clockwork
