King George III is often known as the mad king and presided over the United Kingdom during the American Revolution. However, his reign is also marked by his decades-long marriage to Queen Charlotte and the birth of their fifteen children. With so many offspring it was bound to be that several would go on to do great things, while others, unfortunately, died young.

Whether it was George IV, who inherited the throne from his father, or Prince Octavius and Alfred who died from a smallpox inoculation, the history of George III’s children is fascinating. If you want to learn about an important era in British history, keep watching, because here’s what happened to Queen Charlotte’s fifteen children.

It's astonishing how after so many miscarriage and successful pregnancy with mistresses, none of them ever thought that maybe marrying anyone related to you is a bad idea.

I can't imagine spending over a decade of life pregnant.

It's like they only use 5-6 names: Edward, George, Charles, Charlotte, Elizabeth, etc. 😮

I almost was wishing for a chart to pop up, on the left side periodically, as each person was introduced, while the guy was talking. Hard trying to keep 15 people straight. Otherwise, very good video!

I always wondered what happened to these royals' illegitimate children.
Were they acknowledged eventually?
Do the royals' mistresses get huge compensations and live comfortably if not luxuriously with their children?

My grandmother had 13 kids, all born at home with only her sisters to help. ❤

The first three minutes and already there are mistakes. George IV did not have an affair for most of his adult life, he married Marie Fitzherbert, the marriage was annulled as he did not have his fathers consent which was required as he was heir to the throne. He housed her across the road from his palace - the Royal Pavilion in Brighton, Sussex.

So I guess it's true, daddies little girls, that's kind of sweet that he did not want his daughters to marry men that would be cruel to them.❤
