I’m not Indian but I grew up watching K3G and when I heard this in the series I was so happy and the way they contrasted the Indian culture into this series 😍

As a South Asian and someone who has watched and listened to the original version of this song growing up, this is a proud representation moment for my culture, my people, and I. This song was released in 2001, in a Bollywood (indian) film called Kabhi Khushi Kabhie Gham (which in English means "Sometimes joyful, sometimes sorrowful") and has been iconic among the South Asian population since then. To see it used in an american TV show after so many years is def a step in the right direction in the representation of South asians in Hollywood. Thank you Bridgerton and Kris Bowers.

If this isn't everyone's new bridal entrance song, I don't know what is. This is everything!! Thank you just thank you!!

This is so beautiful. I am so heartbroken, I wish Lata ji would have been around to hear this. I bet she would've loved it.🥺

hearing this rendition during the show made me literally tear up idk why, it's just seeing south asian representation, especially in a period piece– plus seeing a darker skinned indian woman be the main love interest for the story is just incredible to me.
also i realized that kate and edwina's mother's love story was very similar to rahul's love story in K3G in regards to falling in love with and marrying a "commoner" and being estranged from disapproving parents because of that. i'm just so happy for the representation as well as the beautiful arrangement of this piece.

For those who don’t understands KKKG was THE movie of our time when it came out. I remember it being huge! My family made such a big deal to see it in theatres which was un-heard of back then. It’s like our Titanic. Beautiful movie. Even if you don’t watch Bollywood movies, guarantee it’ll make you feel something.

I really love that Bridgerton incorporates all different cultures and color. To me it feels seemless and natural as if this multicultural world really existed.

As a British Asian this makes me SO PROUD!! I have tears in my eyes. After walking between two cultures all my life and now at 60, this piece tells me that the two cultures can blend and walk in perfect harmony if allowed by society in general. I wish the western world could embrace so many other beautiful pieces of Indian music in the future. Thank you for this masterpiece.

Kind of surreal hearing this iconic song and seeing a fellow south Asian woman playing a love interest in a period romance drama. Finally feels like our community is being seen in Hollywood and our culture being appreciated.

Netflix knows its audience. Had to watch whole season to see where they've kept this iconic song of Lataji. Hat's off to Netflix. Most Beautiful rendition in the whole series 😍

My cousin got married around July and she had a Christian wedding, but she wanted the Church orchestra to play this as she walked down the isle. It was such a tear opener and having a piece of our culture intertwine with another in holy matrimony. I love how proud we are of our roots yet didn't outshine the other party

As a guy who grew up watching K3G, they did the song justice!

"Kabhi khushi kabhi gum"
A little joy, a little sorrow....
The Haldi scene where it was showcased, the scene was contrasting the feelings of Anthony and Kate durinh their pre-wedding rituals. While Edwina was happy, Kate was pretending to be too, Anthony was clearly not and he was making all sorts of excuses for enjoying the festivities.

It sat perfectly. A bit of joy, a bit of sorrow. Thats life. And thats the lyrics of this song.
"Its your deeds
A bit of joy, a bit of sorrow..."

I'm German, Bollywood films were huge here, (RTL2 for my fellow Germans!) I grew up watching them and falling deeply in love with the music, the colours, the culture... hearing this song made me so happy !

I was so stunned to hear this in Bridgerton! I couldn’t believe it and it just filled me with immense pride that so many people are being introduced to Indian culture in such a beautiful way but especially with this song because this is arguably one of the biggest films to ever come out of the Bollywood industry - ever. I think the Bridgerton writers represented our culture in the most beautiful way!
