Really appreciate the last section on lessons learned. Not many people show or discuss that.

Great video, did the same process on my door and it came out better than expected! Prep is key.

I just used this system this weekend for a fender on my 03 Ram 2500. Came out 50% decent and 50% hot garbage, but that was no fault of the Eastwood system. My paint was a heavy pearl/metallic and I have not shot this heavy of a pearl before and the basecoat came out very rough and splotchy. I later learned the cross-hatch method of spraying but not until the final coat of base which did clear it up a bit but the end result was still only so-so. The paint and clear were awesome, by painting skills is where the real help is needed.

Thank you for making this video. It was very helpful in painting multi-stage colored bumper on my daughter’s car using Eastwood products. It turned out great and matched the car very well. I wouldn’t have thought to do the spray-out card samples prior to shooting the bumper nor would I have sanded with the right grit if it hadn’t been for this video. Great instruction and great products. Thanks again Eastwood!

Another thing you should have done differently is delay installing the nutserts until the end. They interfered with your sanding process.

I prepped and primed my 71 Hilux by hand an rattle can. Biggest dent was where someone had put big mirrors on the doors. Macco charged me $400 to spray. It was a good job but the paint faded after a few years. Now I'm retired and about to start a 2000 Montero sport. I painted aircraft for a while. I will use a DA. A home made paint booth is another project.😊

you recommend sanding existing paint with 600 prior to base coat? 800 -1000 too fine? Using spray can and 2x clear

Looks great... as nice as the tail gate looks now, you're going to end up wanting to paint the whole truck.

The end result was amazing for a “Rattle Can “ paint job, however, I would love to know how many such cans were used in each process because in my opinion it probably would have been a lot cheaper to buy a pint of color and clear or just color enamel and do it with a small compressor, however, that is my opinion. The end result was an incredible matching and finished panel. Nice work, thank you.

I will be applying the high build urethane primer this week. From the Eastwood website, the information seems to indicate that this primer should only be applied to epoxy primer or previous sanded paint work. Nice video.

How would this product do on a fiberglass camper shell? Need it to match the truck

How would you recommend painting a heavy metallic color. I was looking at Porsches Oak Green Metallic but, I'd assume that the metallic from a can is going to be difficult. I've heard of people spraying in a cross hatch pattern and then with a drop coat afterwards. Not exactly sure if that's what they do for every coat or spray different coats in different directions. Any ideas?

Not a painter, what is a mid coat vs base coat? Is that what is called multi stage paint on your website, and some colors don't have a mid coat? I don't see mid coats on the website.

So for the damage repair he finishes that off at 180, then 320, then 600 for primer for everything?

what if im respraying a camper shell in retro stripes of brown, burnt orange and mustard? how would i find what colors to order if i dont have paint codes due to it being a new paint design?

So it's always 50/50 base to mid coat? Why didn't you try to blend the panel into the edges but sprayed the whole panel instead. Do you see any stripes in the sun? That spray pattern looked very dry
