Nintendo 'accidentally' left a few frames of Mr. Game & Watch in a live Treehouse broadcast of Super Smash Bros. Ultimate that has left some people upset.
Let's take a look at what's actually wrong with this entire situation of over-political correctness in the world of entertainment.

Ok ew. I admittedly do not know you on a personal level, with that being said, allow me to ask you a question: do you know what's worse than pandering to one side of a social issue? Answer: pandering to both. This video, while I respect your right as a human being to not only express yourself creatively as well as speak your mind and point of view, is nothing more than a giant pandering party. There really is a lot wrong here in what your saying and it is honestly too much to go into and dissect word for word, but I will try and sum up the main take away I got out of it. You are not happy that the social/political and comedy landscape is progressing beyond the acceptance of laughing at a joke designed at the expense of a minority group. Yourself trying to cater to both perspective in an attempt to not allow your personal perspective to be as obvious as it actually is. I for one, am glad Nintendo made this change, as I feel the acknowledgement of it being a mistake, proves they are more self aware of it as an offense, and may not have been before, due to geographical distance and culturally being so different as well. But again, this video was made by a guy who created a website in the guise of building a community platform, when it is little more than an annoying push notification to my phone, from his narcissism machine. The ones who are the most vocal are not even the ones who should be offended. I have a rite to offend, you have a rite to be offended. Thats a personal thing between us... What you are personally offended about doesn't mean everyone needs to be offended as well. This world is getting so ridiculous. There was a quote from someone I cant remember who lol but the dude said being offended is like hurting your leg. Its your own personal experience. Great video man. However, one thing that has always bothered me is that if this were a movie or television show, this depiction would not of been as big of a deal. People have such a skewed version of what is culturally acceptable sometimes. They’ll complain about something like this, then turn around and have no problem watching a graphic rape scene or someone brutally murdered in Game of Thrones.

Although it’s not culturally relevant today to include crass stereotypes in your game. It is culturally relevant to know where we came from, and that if we forget the transgressions of the past we are doomed to repeat them. This caricature is a result of an bygone era, an era we need to recognize as being callous to many ethnic people and women. It needs to be noticed that the whole consciousness of our culture is changing to fit new ideas at the cost of freely discussing what is wrong in the first place about images like “Indian” game and watch guy. That it unfairly represents another culture as bloodthirsty killers willing to burn you alive in your own fort. Does it have a place in today’s video games? I don’t know. Its my assertion the ugliness of history shouldn’t be forgotten. It can never be forgotten. All should learn the darkened spots on the pages of history. We should learn to recognize and educate to help garnish understanding. Should this stuff get erased from the collected memory of humanity? We may never know because there’s seemingly no place for the constructive discussion of civil inequalities from history nowadays. Well. Except your channel perhaps?

This is such a tricky subject and you handled it really well. Personally, I completely understand why Mr. Game and Watch had those frames of animation as like Game and Watch is part of Nintendo history, that video game is part of Mr. G&W history and I believe what we should be doing is facing these from our past instead of forgetting it never happened. It seems like (Your Simpsons part as example) that a minority of people who don't understand the context of these shows/games are the ones causing an uproar and as to why it has taken so long for them to be offended by a character such as 'Apu'. This is such a mixed topic, but you handled it well, great video JT!

Its a tricky subject and I dont think Nintendo meant anything bad by having that image of a Native American stereotype, but I could see how they felt pressure to take it away because some NA stereotypes(think the Braves, Redskins, Peter Pan) present them in a very unflattering light, much like the old blackface/minstrel shows. It does bring up a point as to where we draw the line- it seems right now oppressed races, genders and classes are not to be touched, but white european males are fair game(thinking of the Simpsons theres lots of stereotypes- the lazy, fat cop, the angry Scotsman(janitor), the fat, passive aggressive comic book nerd, and so many more.

I honestly think the vast majority of people who complain aren't even offended at all. They just complain for the attention.

I mean come on folks, it's a silly game character with a frame of animation, its ridiculous. Seriously, it's like we are walking on glass when it comes to anything nowadays.

Lots of interesting points here! I didn't even know about that Game & Watch game, but it seems like it was a play on the whole Cowboys and Indians thingy. As for Blazing Saddles.. Mel Brooks was very smart with that movie, he knew exactly what he was doing be exposing the harshness and stupidity of racism at its core.

FYI, this sort of thing doesn't help anyone. Oh sure. It's done under the guise of "sensitivity" and "inclusion, " but all it really serves is to create MORE division, partially because you can't take three steps nowadays without trampling someone's toes (which in effect, just pisses people off). The folks butthurt over this sort of thing are the very people throwing temper tantrums when birds crap on their windshields. Or when a co-worker doesn't address them with the proper inflection in their voice tone. In other words, people who perpetually have sand in their vaginas and are likely to get affronted over everything short of the earth spinning on its axis (and they probably have petitions on the backburner for that one, too).

Basically, we all just need a big old heaping glass of grow-up juice.

That's why some religions believed the sun to be our God because it illuminates us in the existence of darkness. We are on a better path to being better people but that doesn't make us good. Aww man JT....I didn't hit comment on my comment so here's the summary of what i wrote earlier today....Firstly, I think you should leave this type of topic alone as your channel grows. I understand your intention with it. Secondly, as far as the game goes I think it sucks that hey have to edit it out but at the same time I understand now as an adult that the most disappointing thing about a lot of the United States' Iconography were based on the disenfranchisement and misinformation to the populace. I grew up playing cops and robbers, ninjas and cowboys and Indians and even the handheld game but as an adult with a little college education I learned that those fire throwing "injuns" in the game were literally *the defenders of their earth and oaths. To this date those people have been disenfranchised with the obvious political lights about immigrants and what not I have empathy for Native Tribes of this country regardless of the demonization of them in "American" entertainment*( *I wrote something a lot shorter in my original comment back to my original thoughts tho*)....I'm not a fan of SJWs or as you put it in a way the entertainment users. SJWs need to stop fighting artistic mediums and start working to improve the disenfranchised of the country and entertainment users/fans/primary demographic need to stop responding to them with toxicity and exaggerating the thought that stifling the use of stereotypes will stop creativity and fun in gaming, cus it won't at all.(*that was as far as i had written earlier) And Lastly I told your ass I hope you didn't get flack from that video of you dressed up as the player in that game....People do take things to heart when their identity is being celebrated by people who were once their oppressors....Funny yet sad part is all the offenders can do is claim me too which is true in some cases and get salty about being asked to not go there with someone else's offense with their personally painful perspective of history. I love the channel man and like I said I hope you just let topics like this be for other people to dive into and show their nuts about.
