A Barbour Fanboy bought Belstaff Waxed Jacket | The Belstaff Fieldmaster Review & First Impressions

I’ve been a big Barbour jackets fan for a long time. And I just bought a Belstaff Fieldmaster waxed jacket. I even tested it under the rain. Now I have a lot to say about this jacket. Is Belstaff quality better than Barbour? Is the Barbour game over for me now?

I’ve had this exact jacket for 5 years and it’s a staple that can last a lifetime - It can be layered and you can wear it for 3 of the 4 seasons here in England - a true classic

I love both my belstaff and Barbour jackets. The only problem I find with belstaff is the sizing, I’ve had some very strange fitting items from them. So you would ideally want to try before you buy. But I do love having that badge on my arm.

The longer sleeves on the Belstaff are likely a design feature for riding a motor bike. I have had both Barbour and Belstaff for some years now---both have endured abuse well. Of course if you're looking for leather that same Fieldmaster design is a great call (particularly because it's actually less costly than other leathers of similar (excellent) quality). My leather version has a Made in Italy tag, and Belstaff is now an Italian company.

The belstaff motorcycle trial master version is an absolute beast. It weighs a ton, is warmer than my Canada goose and totally waterproof yet breathable. It’s well worth the price compared to the fashion one.

You need to test a Schott waxed jacket. They are brilliant.

If you want to try the Rolls Royce of wax jackets then you should try the Private White VC wax walker . It's way more expensive than both Barbour and Belstaff, but for connoisseurs of wax jackets it's regarded as the best .

Awesome video. I liked the shots in the rain. Explorer II goes well. I have Barbour Bedale 36, which fits perfect. Will this jacket be too long in the sleeves for me? 5’7” 135 lbs.

Have both, the Barbour Jackets are a better bang for your buck, 100%. The Fieldmaster ist nearly 2x as expensive as a Beaufort in my country. The fit is much tighter on the Belstaff, wide shoulders do not fit in race or fieldmaster.

I recently purchased a Barbour Ashby and I love the fit but I was always interested in some of the Belstaff designs. I was wondering if you purchased the jacket from a store in Canada (if so, which retailer?) as I would prefer to try it on in person at the store. Keep up the great work!!!

Is the polyester sleeve lining comparable to the Barbour Ashby? I’ve got the Ashby and I end up with damp shirt sleeves if I walk too fast, due to the lining making my arms sweat.

Great jacket, enjoy! However I’d suggest not putting your arm over you wife’s shoulder while walking especially if she is wearing a white puffer. Belstaff one Puffer zero….. thanks for the review 😊

Belstaff has a more sports orientated fit than Barbour due to them being based in motorcycle culture. Barbour International would be a better comparison.

I love my Belstaff Jackets - mine are made in Albania and Romania. I also have Barbour made in Vietnam, so there is that....
