I FINALLY FIXED MINE...i re downloaded itunes directly from the website, even though i already had the latest version. Installed it and as soon as i plug in my phone is said i needed an update to use the iphone X. (another update?) installed that updated and it WORKS! itunes now recognizes my phone and currently am restoring it.

Just bought IPhone xr. It had my playlist from ITunes on it but no songs. I spent almost 2 hours on the phone with Apple. The 1st person had me to do everything but stand on my head and it still didn't work. She put her supervisor on the phone and she remoted in to my pc (windows 10) and also my phone. Still couldn't get it to work. Whenever I plugged my phone up, my pc nor my laptop would recognize my phone. I couldn't even import my photos. I looked at lots of YouTube videos, but nothing worked. I tried what you guys said and here's what happened. I reset my privacy and location on my phone under settings-general-reset. I then restarted my phone. I went to the device manager on my pc and searched for Apple driver like you said. Then I completely uninstalled ITunes for the 20th time. I went in the Apple Store and downloaded it again. Was so afraid I was going to lose all my music in my library but when ITunes came back up everything was fine. Plugged my phone in and the option to import my pictures came up. went to ITunes and there was my phone icon. I synced my playlist and everything went fine. Thank you guys. There was another video that I truly believe had the same idea but unfortunately he didn't speak English too good and I couldn't understand what he was saying. Thank you again. You guys are truly experts. Apple would be lucky to have you on their team!

Funny how this is an Appel product and every video has an extensive explanation for PC and very little explanation on a Mac. This tutorial was very frustrating to watch.

After screwing around with this for the last few days and contemplating a trip to the Apple store, hitting Reset Location & Privacy did the trick for my brand new XR - much appreciated!

Nice video guys. I waited till the end of the video to find the solution for my problem and now i have to use the link to Reset iTunes Lockdown folder. Going to check if that solves my issue. Anyway, thank you!

Thank you. iTunes updated on PC as you suggested and then, as part of this process, updated software on iPhone. It took a while for updates to install, but phone identified afterwards and videos etc. could be copied over to PC. Apple's on-line prompts followed to the letter.
