Not knocking you in any way, but why are they hiring foreigners to give tours when there are many qualified Japanese people? Is it because the explosion in tourism the past few years means they've exceeded the native capacity? I'm an old Japan hand (30+ years) and have thought about doing a part-time tour business in my part of Japan, but I know that when I go to another country (e.g. Italy) I prefer to book a tour with a local since they know the culture and history better than someone who has been there only a few years. That may be the reason I've never pursued it beyond the thinking stage. Anyway, it does sound better than working at an eikaiwa for sure.
