I'm glad you brought up how bad legendary primaries were and how we basically had Handcannons(among other things) be flat out awful since changes done in late 2019/Shadowkeep launch. Not surprised Bungie decided to cool down exotic primaries against red bars given how advantageous they were.

Don’t tell anyone, but the special ammo sidearms all work with heavy finder/scout mods.

This was one of my favorite metas, I hope the new ammo changes coming into the future allows us to do it again, but only a reduced rate obviously

Idk if its a bug, but the sidearm is able to generate heavy like a legendary primary using finder mods

Double specials do still provide on average more heavy than a primary ammo loadout. Maybe not more than an ammo finder exotic primary but it’s about the same.

It’s due to the ammo phase system. You can only get an ammo phase if you aren’t currently using the weapon. For example, you cannot get a heavy ammo phase when you use a heavy and you can’t get a special ammo phase with a special weapon out. This means that when you use a primary weapon you have the potential to either get a heavy or special ammo phase. But when you use double specials you will generally only ever get heavy ammo phases.

It’s a simplification of the system but just know that you do still get an increased number of heavy ammo drops than primary loadouts but just not more than ammo finders. But that doesn’t matter because one normal brick equates to 2-3 ammo finder bricks.

Indebted kindness is like baby xenophage. Not best in slot for ad clear, not best in slot for single target burst, but it's very serviceable for both roles.

And y'know... it has that crazy ammo economy

Enjoy it while it last. While I like to burn my Exotic slot for Buried Bloodline, special Sidearms will eventually get nerfed when more come out with stronger perks.
