In this short video we will look at the process in how to get the RCM mark, also known as the Regulatory Compliance Mark to indicate compliance against the mandated product compliance requirements of Australia and New Zealand.

What is the Regulatory Compliance Mark (RCM)
The RCM is the mandated product compliance requirements for Australia and New Zealand, which incorporate the following requirements:

Telecommunications
Radiocommunications
EMC
EME/EMR
Electrical safety

The importer or distributor of the product becomes the responsible party for each product they wish to distribute in the region i.e. Australia.

The responsible party must have an Australian Business Number (ABN) and must register their company on the RCM responsible supplier or National Equipment Registration System database. If the business entity is outside Australia they may engage the services of a 'local agent'.

Each product sold must comply with all the applicable requirements. The RCM the scheme is based upon self declaration self and evidence is usually accomplished using test reports (in English), preferably issued from an accredited testing laboratory.

Different compliance levels may require different levels of evidence and sometimes the RCM logo may not need affixing to the product. It may be required to upload compliance documentation, if the equipment falls under the scope of electrical equipment safety system (EESS).

For most products the responsible supplier must complete a "Declaration of Conformance" (DoC) for each product and affix the RCM logo.
