Ruth, these are interesting ideas, all of practical use.

I'm not sure if it would be too big a project to combine finding similar images (maybe with detecting faces) and the OS module to create a picture library that could be useful in cleaning large picture folders.

I started with digital photography in 2003 and have approximately 110k images. This is simply unmanageable for me (I still use PICASA!)

One of the problems with digital photography is that most times one is never satisfied with a single picture -- pressing the button became cheap, as it wasn't when we used film.

So similar images are quite common. To be able to find them, pick one and delete the rest would be great!

As I said, I am doubtful about the complexity involved in solving this practical problem. But, here in Brazil, we have a saying that in Spanish would read: "quien no llora, no mama".

Kudos to you for the initiative!

P.S. Anything using classes would also interest me.
