Today, we'll take a look at two divers from Omega, the Seamaster 300 (Ref: 233.30.41.21.01.001) and the Seamaster Planet Ocean 43.5 8900 (Ref: 215.30.44.21.03.001), talking about the similarities, differences, and appeal of both.

I love your reviews and how they are always a unique take we have not heard before. However, you describe the dial on the 300 MC as "plastic with a little bit of lume painted on it" which is a fair statement as that is pretty much the look. But it is a sandblasted ceramic dial with a "sandwich" style look achieved through recessed cutouts filled with lume. So while it does go for that super simple look, there is a little bit more effort that has gone into it than it seems.

Thanks for comparing these two. Actively considering both.

Later that day at the mental hospital... "Yeah this one's weird. We've got a guy in a batman mask rambling about "helium release valves". " I'll prepare the antipsychotics right away sir".

I have the Planet Ocean 8900 and I dive to over 300 feet sometimes, so it works well for me. Never had any problems even at close to 400 feet.

Why do so many watch reviewers fail to show the watches on the wrist? So frustrating!!

Hey Nick! Could you do me and my countrymen a HUGE favour and do a quick PSA about Canada's recent decision to basically ban most one-hand opening knives from importation? Please tell your Canadian subs to check out Kevin Cleary's video on the subject and contact their local MP's about it. Thank you and love your content!

Nick, are you planning on getting a recent mechanical Aqua Terra for enjoyment and comparison against the others?

I love that blue dial and prefer the brushing on the bracelet. I also enjoy the wow factor you refer too. I’ve considered a Rolex Submariner but they’re so hard to get and the Planet Ocean ticks a lot of important boxes for me. I love both but the Omega is waiting for me and not me for it. I like the way you talk and think Nick.

Hate the polished links on Seamaster 300…had it and sold it because of it…Now saving up for Planet Ocean in black

That's a multi level dial on the 300 seamaster, not just painted lume.

My PO 8500 has no play in the bezel and has been rotated hundreds of times.

Hi Nick, loving your watch reviews but I have to tell you that it is not normal to have that much play in the bezel of these Planet Oceans. I have owned 3 of these watches and none of them had any play at all!

I like the look of the seamaster better, if it had a date at 3 or 4 o'clock it would be a lot better. Don't care about the polished bracelet cause I'd put it right on a black nato. Not that it matters cause I'll never have 5 grand for a watch.

I’m really not a fan of the seamaster 300 at all. Not an attractive watch whatsoever for me. The planet ocean on the other hand is beautiful and my next watch. I recently purchased the black SMP 300m and love it as well. Thanks for sharing, Batman.

Planet Ocean every day of the week. Now a few months after buying it, finally, other of my watches do get some wrist time. I have a 7" wrist but as I am 6 foot 2 the size is perfect, but truth be told, I could do with the helium escape valve and it could loose some weight. Both are fantastic timepieces but it is something with the Planet Ocean....

Lol, the elephant analogy is a great way to look at dive watch marketing.
