For those that don’t know, Bernard Garrett was a real person who made millions in real estate by training his white employees to be the “faces” for business deals and he would often pose as a chauffeur or handyman to monitor the meetings. He made his fortune in CA before going back to TX and opened a bank to help black people combat redlining.

Movie is called the Banker. How hard is it to include the name on these things?

It's heartbreaking to me that people treat others this way.

One of most favorite movies is "The Help". At the end...NO ONE got up to leave intil all the credits were done and many were crying. Including my daughter and me as well. If you havent seen it...I highly recommend yu watch it.

Let’s not forget these type of people are still present in our society. Let’s never get complacent.

Don’t forget that most of your grandparents remember these times very clearly. Ask them sometime if they’re still with us. Whichever side they were on, they’ll tell you. We’re not far removed from segregation.

The old women reminds me of some Southern Baptist I know. They would love to go back to 1950.

My grandmother used to tell me about how she always hated the whole segregation thing. Her best friend was this nice African American lady who lived next door to her since they were small. They used to do everything together, both passed a little over 2 years ago and had it written down they wanted a joint funeral. She always said that color isn’t what matters, it’s the soul that’s behind their eyes that matters
