Hi John, where does the AI element come in on YOUR end of things?

As far as I understand it you’ve automated the Facebook back end to streamline the ad setup process…which obviously utilises Facebook’s algorithms to drive the ads to the most relevant people - which I assume is what you’re calling AI.

But where exactly is the hypeddit AI in the process and what, if anything, is it doing that Facebook/meta Pixel doesn’t provide ?

Wow 🤯. I don't think I want to or can afford 20$ a month. This price increase makes me kind of sad and I feel somehow abandoned 😔. Hypeddit really helped me the last 2 years and I'm really thankful for all the marketing knowledge John has shared. I really learned a lot.

Love your service but unfortunately can't afford the new pricing

Pro Plan from 9dollar to 20 dollar? And so much talking but no real added benefits?! That's really insane

Thanks to the older “Spotify Growth Engine”, I learned how to set up Meta Ads myself, and I am very grateful to you for teaching me that, John. Ironically, this is also why you will likely lose me as a customer starting in January 2025, as I can’t see the value in the massive price increase from $9 to $20 for the Pro Plan without any additional features, especially since it’s an ad automation tool and not AI. I’m sorry about this because I really do like Hypeddit. Additionally, a quick note on the pricing for the Basic Plan at $10: SubmitHub links are free, and the page speed is even faster.

At 20$ a month I canceled. Too expensive.

Seems like the best course of action would be to buy a 12 month pro membership now... pay $99 for a year... and get access to the new features John's talked about in these comments, for like $8 a month. Then decide next fall if the tools are worth the price increase 👀

The correct way to do this was:

- Rename the current Pro subscription to something like "Legacy Pro"
- All current paid users stay on that old/legacy plan and are locked into their current rate *forever*
- Legacy Pro plan will never ever get new features - it's frozen
- Roll out the new Basic and Pro plans

Now existing paid users have the choice to remain on Legacy Pro at $9/mo, or they can choose to upgrade to the new Pro at $20/mo (and they cannot return to Legacy Pro after that).

I think that 20$ is a lot especially for starters and with the same features. Its 120% increase in price. Maybe you could let existing subscribers unchanged price and apply on a new ones and more focus on getting new subscribers for higher price.

Not happy if I'm honest. The only benefit I find with Hypeddit is the time saving aspect of setting up ads. Not worth 20 a month in my opinion so I will be cancelling. Others may disagree, and that's fine, I'm not here to have an argument about it. Just my opinion.

As a small business owner myself, I understand the need to update pricing from time to time. However, as far as I can tell, the new Pro plan comes with the same features as the existing Pro plan (please correct me if this is wrong). If that's correct, then increasing the monthly price of the Pro plan from the current $9 to $20 is, respectfully, insane. That's a 120% price increase without any appreciable and commensurate increase in features. Again, please correct me if I've misunderstood anything about the features comparison between the existing and new Pro plans.

Ah John, this pricing is absolutely fine! You're innovating with new tools, while still keeping fundamentals near the original cost (yearly) - That's awesome. Keep smashing it.

So, do I understand correctly that current annual users keep the old price for one more year? Or only till end of 2024 or their subscription period?

When comparing today's Pro Plan to the new Basic plan, they are essentially the same except the new Basic plan doesn't have AI Powered Ads, Automatic Email Promo with download gates, or the unlimited exchange or fan promotion campaigns. Is this correct? If so, what about custom branding and annual subscriptions? Is custom branding included in the new Basic plan? Is a discount available if you purchase an annual plan? Lastly, in the new Pro plan, can you explain what's in the fan analytics & Insights? Is it more than what we get with today's Pro plan?

Not going to lie John, this news does sting. I understand the need to survive as a business with rising costs. Seven years is a long time to operate without an increase, and we have all enjoyed using your service. However I think the problem you have with this announcement is that there is no perceived added value, just a double increase in price for most of your customers. Except the elite package which most in that tier already have the extra disposable income, and are not effected. Actually, it saves them money. I think that if you had any great updates to your AI AD Automation or new features to roll out and share, that would be a selling point, and should have started with that. Like example have AI Ad Campaign automatically find look alike artists by just hearing your music, and not have to manually input them into the fields when creating a campaign. This pricing update will definitely stir up your customer base, and I hope you have continued success. You're a good dude, and deserve the respect for providing a great service to us all. It just may be too much for a lot of folks you have now to afford, and begs the invitation for other entrepreneurs to create a similar service with a more streamlined approach, at a slightly cheaper price. Because now you have become competitive, as before your service couldn't be beaten. That or it forces people to learn how to learn and run the ad campaigns on Facebook and Instagram for themselves. Hope you can ride out this storm. As for me, I'll keep using your service. Thanks for all you do John, and good luck staying on top my friend.

John, I appreciate you taking the time to respond, but, respectfully, I don't think you've fully considered the consequences of changing the pricing in this way.

Business 101: if you attempt to significantly raise prices on your existing customers without clearly demonstrating a ton of new value that they're going to get from the price increase - and, most importantly, you've also VALIDATED with your existing customers that they actually see the value in the new features, so that they've confirmed that they're actually willing to pay more for those features - then you should expect to anger your customer base and lose customers.

It is not your customers' fault that you've chosen to set your prices as they've been in the past; that was your decision as the business owner.

If you didn't want to anger your customer base and drive away customers who up until this point were advocates for your business (see the vast majority of the comments on this video), then a preferable way that you could've gone about this was to (1) create and announce new features that you've validated that your customers actually want and value; (2) keep the current features available under the current $9/month Pro plan (or bump it up a small incremental amount, certainly no higher than $12/month, already a 33% increase over current prices); (3) create a new "Premium" tier that includes the new features; and then (4) announce that new Premium tier at whatever elevated new price point you feel you need to charge.

That way, going forward, you've created a mechanism through which you can push any new exciting features into the Premium tier, further incentivizing long-term customers to upgrade from Pro to Premium once they're ready and able, while still providing the customers who helped you build your business with the level of service and features that you as the business owner had already established as the baseline.

Instead, telling existing customers that their only options are to pay $1 more per month and get much less, or pay 120-140% more for essentially the same offerings that they're already currently paying for, without a detailed description of what new features and value they'll be getting, and using buzzwords such as "AI" and "machine learning" instead of providing concrete details, is only likely to sour many people on the Hypeddit brand that you've worked so hard to build over the years.

All of this was foreseeable and avoidable. Please take this feedback however you like, including, of course, doing nothing with it. Have a good day.

Love the service, but you just can’t double the price for the exact same thing and expect people to stay

John, I know you are pricing this per your numbers, and in truth, this is what I have seen all software developers do, which is find out, if they survive 5 yrs on out, initial prices just don't cover the ongoing costs, so I get that. However, you are dealing with a client base that has a poor roi due to streaming profile. And I want to offer a suggestion to your plans: how about offering a plan that is based for those starting out or low-performing groups, similar to email software companies that price according to one's reach. So someone who may be in the less than 500 listeners or fans, is in a monthly rate equal to Starter or hypeddit, and when/if they cross over, another increase, and the one that is $20 per month for those in the fan/listener tier that makes sense. Otherwise, I see a lot of persons being unable to sustain that, or unwilling. Just suggesting this, as this is a plan that has worked well for many email software companies that seems to make sense for startups. I realize this may not meet your own costs to run the service, and that is another thing, whether it is sustainable to you, period. But if it isn't out of line, I think beyond the grandfathered in, I think it may satisfy long-run to at least have one starter plan for those either low performers, or just starting out, so that it eliminates the cringe factor to pay for a service not in line with the small followers/listeners base one may have starting out.
