Warcraft Reimagined - Part 7 - Netherstorm

Welcome to the shattered, cosmic archipelago known as Netherstorm, a region was once known as Farahlon, the ancient spawning grounds of the Botani before the rise of the Old Horde saw it put to the torch.

In trying to recover what they can from the ruins, the Botani have joined forces with the Ethereals, who arrived in Outland in pursuit of the monstrous void entity who destroyed their homeworld, Dimensius the All-Devouring.

But with Kael'thas Sunstrider's operations in Netherstorm throwing those plans into jeopardy, the wayward Prince and his loyal followers must be stopped before all of Outland is lost...

Warcraft Reimagined is a series where I grab Warcraft by the lore, rip the juicy bits out, and discard the rest, putting it back together with a more consistent through line.

Nice, really love how you still kept the essence of the original, but deepened pretty much everything to make the Dungeons feel more in tune with the world and the overall story arc.

"But how will they fix the Sunwell if Anvina doesn't exist?" I dunno, dropping the core of what amounts to a fucking Ophanim into the thing seemed to do the trick last time.

I gotta say you have once again delighted me with another of your insightful and well-written videos. I especially love the falling out of Alleria and Turalyon, I always hated their relationship in canon and honestly you just moved things along to their logical conclusion faster than those cowards at Blizzard will if ever.

I'd think Area 52 could make an interesting side quest area-- it's not actually a goblin capitalist venture(TM), but a remnant of the Horde's Azerothian allies who got stranded on Draenor after the formation of Outland! The goblins there are accompanied by forest trolls and some sympathetic ogres and orcs who felt abandoned by leadership and refused to join the Fel Horde, Cabal, or other evil groups. The goblins are trying to build a rocket to return to Azeroth, but now that the portal's open again and they're back in contact with Azeroth the project is being repurposed to explore the Nether or something. Could be a nice Horde-centric equivalent to Kirin Var!

I can't help but say I LOVE this revision, both for the sympathetic view of Kael'thas and the prominent role you gave for Liadrin. This region was one with which I looked forward to the most. Looking forward to more!

Took me a while to finally watch the video, but great job! i really loved questing in Netherstorm. though i admit, i never gotten what the Ethereals were, where they came from or what they did (especially hanging around karazhan). so your video was not only entertaining, but also highly educating to me!

I just wanted to pop by and say that I love this series. If you ever come back to it it will be very welcome. But even if you don't, you have given more than a fe of us plenty to ponder about what could have been.

So Kael'thas has the same thing as Iladin going more or less with a side of "I must do something, this is something, therefore I must do it". Great execution. Love your work

I always love these videos and just makes me realize why I liked the lore and how it should be. With a lot more thought and care. I felt in the story they didn't cfare enough about empathy for others. So many are dealing with similar issues that link them together which is why they come together to be one as successfully as they do. The dranei and the blood elves both faced the near extinction of what people they had left and now are just trying to survive while always being tempted with joining the burning legion which ultimately is resposible for their struggles. And the blood elves are about to also have their leaders that they trust join the burning legion for the power they give.

the Alleria/Turalyon part was dark and delightful (I love the sharp teeth and the multiple eyes), but 'climate change' in Outland part... oh gosh, that was quite depressing but very appropriate. In a universe in which doomsday scenarios happen and are overturned all the time, one thing that is really missing is exploring a sense of lingering, slow, catastrophic loss... and Outland is the perfect place for that!
Great video as always!

The revelation that Kael'thas manaforges basically doomed Outland permanently and the whole place is going to be gone in the foreseeable future is straight genius. It's WAY better villain writing than giving him the worst evilbadguy dialogue imaginable because he sold out to the Legion. Again, if Blizz weren't on various substances back in 2007 I really do feel they would've done this - it's weird, it's striking, it's likely never being followed through on, but man does it hit hard.

I mean, to be fair, removing Area 52 is one thing Blizz would never do - if there's one thing your reimaginings are lacking, it's copious amounts of hahafunny humor and entire zones reduced to nothing but dozens of references upon references to the point I couldn't recall what the *lore* of the zones actually was behind all the moments you go 'ha, i understood that reference'. And yeah as charming as it is, Netherstorm really should've focused more on the Ethereals.
p.s. I have only now realized Turalyon only has a first name. I was always under the impression it was his last name and he was just never referred to by his first name (like Lothar). learn something new every day

These videos are always so awesome and I wish they got more attention, but man am I happy that at least the community around them is cool and chill. Another awesome addition to the series! Super excited for Shadowmoon in part because I suspect you'll give the Shadowmoon Clan (My favorite orcs) some actual attention aside from interchangable fel orcs. Plus Akama, one of my favorite characters!

Great as usual, this deserves many more views, and you subs, than what we currently see. The effort and creativity that has gone into this is stupendous. I will personally still root for turalyon and alleria making peace to some degree in the future. (Maybe after Xe'ra gets blasted and turalyon gets his Naaru tinted goggles lifted) Admittedly I'm not sure there's any bring Alleria back, but it'd be nice. I look forward to your take on wrath! I like much of it as is. However there's definitely some things that need an extra dose of believability. Like how all the Vrykul being put to sleep, waking up, and suddenly all following their "death god' who looks strangely like their misbegotten children... There were vrykul who sent their proto human children away, perhaps some of them awaken and align with the Alliance against the tyranny of Icecrown and Utgarde.
