What is are Query strings and Parameters? Little bits of information encoded directly to the URL. It is often used by Marketing Tools such as Google Analytics, AdWords, Facebook and more. Hey Julian another great vid!

I’m actually having trouble with cross domain tracking in the hotel space...which you touched on here and in more detail in an earlier video on your channel.

If you would be so kind to give me your thoughts on the following (10 second thoughts from 50, 000 feet 😜):

Source domain- user browses website
Destination domain- user books/pays...
Source domain- buyers redirected to thank you page.

Source domain via GTM and allow linker field etc setup.
Destination domain- booking engine with global site tag on the platform with altered code to include linker script etc (analytics property being the same on both domains).

In theory does that sound right?

In practice the client ID does not append and I have two sessions - one session where I can get the source medium from the thankyou page and one session with ecommerce transaction data that with the time stamp custom dimension I have to sit and manually reconcile so that everything doesn’t show as direct traffic 🧐

Great vid, but I used your UTM campaign tagging tool recently and it changed the case of my base URL to all lowercase, which is a problem for my site as the URL is case sensitive. I just sent out an email to 250k+ people with a link in it that doesn't work. Julian, can you fix the formula in your link generator so that it doesn't change the case of the base URL?
