A new 3.6-liter flat-six engine with natural aspiration will be available for the 911 range. The new 3.6-liter naturally aspirated engine will replace the present 3.0-liter turbo engines in the GTS versions and will also be incorporated in the GT3 models, albeit at a later time. The twin-turbo 3.0-liter flat-six will remain available in the Carrera and Carrera S. The 3.8-liter engines powering the Turbo and Turbo S versions will soon be replaced with more sophisticated twin-turbo 3.6-liter engines. The advent of a hybrid powertrain—which doesn't require a plug and charges while the vehicle is being driven—is a standout feature of the update. A 2.0 kWh battery and an electric motor with an additional 80–90 horsepower are included in this T-HEV system. By placing the electric motor beneath the petrol tank, the car's front-wheel propulsion and weight distribution will be enhanced. A 3.0-liter flat-six engine with twin-turbo modification that is expected to produce 395 horsepower and 347 lb-ft of torque will form the core of the hybrid system. The combined output of the electric motor and engine is anticipated to be approximately 478 horsepower and 475 lb-ft of torque.

Porsche is preparing even more potent hybrid systems for the future, rumored to have a hybrid arrangement that might produce more than 800 horsepower in the GT2 RS model. An electric 911 variant was originally scheduled to launch in 2028, however this has since been pushed back until early 2030.
