I was able to instantly see a difference when I plugged my 3rd gen into my TV. The menus and everything looked more clear and vibrant. Then I played a 1080p show that I always watched on my Fire TV Cube 2nd gen and was blown away by how good it looked. I have my 3rd gen Cube plugged into my 65" Vizio OLED with an $80 Audioquest HDMI cable. Only change made was going from a 2nd gen Cube to the 3rd gen Cube. I was pretty impressed.

This is an excellent video exposing the short comings of the cube. The main deficiencies of the cube in my opinion is its quality and longevity. I've used the first two generations of the cube and both were total disasters. I can understand one bad product but to continually release faulty products is not a positive business model. I have been using the 2019 Shield tube for the last two years and in the beginning it was a disaster of epic proportions but it finally sorted itself out and now I couldn't be more content with its performance. Every now and then there is a minor hiccup but nothing like in the beginning. I completely disconnect it once a month and leave it while I am at work. I have found that disconnecting a product for thirty seconds doesn't always solve problems. Sometimes it takes hours or days of complete disconnection to help resolve persistent issues. It's a horrific inconvenience but the positive results in the end are totally worth it. I will never buy another cube.
