"Be as concerned about the happiness and well being of others as you are about your happiness and well being" I think the issue is that some people don't care about their well being properly. When I was addicted to Opiates I chased them down because I didn't want to hurt. I knew how i would feel without them. So my friends who where also addicted and where without a fix, I would share so that they wouldn't be hurting. Was I justified in this because I was "loving as I love myself" I don't think so because ultimately I was contributing to not only my own imprisonment to the drugs but to someone else's.

If the Bible assumes that we are born loving ourselves, what about the people who don’t love themselves or struggle with self esteem? How do they rectify the self hate that they feel?

but isn't it quite easy to understand? Love others as you love yourself, if you love yourself much you should love others much too, and if you love yourself a little love well unfortunately you'll probably love others to that measure but do the best you can. Pride and arrogance are different matters though, those things aren't related to love.

This is of our times biggest problem. We love our self so much and this is the main reason why so many people feel bad and marriage and relationships break down. Many do not understand that the same sin that Lucifer committed against God is the same sin as self-love.

No one can agree on what self-esteem means. It's how you look at yourself. You look at yourself like you look at anything else, you see it for what it is. Stop using unnecessary new terminologies to confuse people.

I don't love myself.... There is nothing for me to love about myself except for God who lives in me. I care so much for other people that I will hardly ever refuse them.
The first things and last things I think about is what I have to do to serve as a member of my community, and my family. I have to force myself to take a day off because if I don't I can't function to help others. I don't matter, other people matter. That's one of the few reasons I have to live. Because I have to live for others.
