Puma MagMax

This is the Puma Mag Max, and it’s got a double tall dose of nitro foam. Will it be the max cushion cruiser that the name implies? Or will this just be another big shoe that ends up being a bit too firm. It’s time to lace up the Mag Max and take it for a run.

I think these are a shoe of the year contender, for me personally at least. I enjoy them more than my Superblasts. Bouncy, responsive, stable, can pick up the pace despite their size, and feel great if I'm moving at a snails pace on a recovery run. These are a 10/10.

Before your video I had seriously been considering both Puma Magmax and the Glideride max as my easy run shoes. I can't decide which one so I might get them both. I am glad you are giving thumbs up to my choices.

This is actually the older Nitro Elite foam in the MagMax from the Deviate Elite 1 and 2. Running Warehouse confirmed it with Puma-they've gotten a bit confusing as they only label the newer Aliphatic TPU "Nitro Elite" now (in the Deviate Elite 3 and Fast-R2). But it explains why this feels so much bouncier than the regular Nitro infused EVA in shoes like the Velocity or Magnify.

Have around 50 miles in mine. Theyre really fantastic and since I have to run in stiff shoes due to an injury, these and the superblast 2 for long/hard runs are a perfect 1-2 punch

Looking forward to the Glycerin Max review. Both of those shoes look brilliant. Of course, the EVO SL also is really interesting as a non-SuperMax, lighter option. Thank-you, Adidas for coming out with Boost foam and starting this arms race in shoe tech all those years ago.

Fun review for what seems like a fun shoe. I just bought the Forever Run for 60 bucks. But the MagMax is definitely on my list for next year. I'm also using VN2 for steady runs. Love that shoe. Puma has me with their Nitro foams.

Loved the ride of the MagMax but very clunky at slow speeds for me and hard to get a good lockdown, I found the upper sloppy and I had to really crank the laces down to get any sort of fit and it was too tight. The glycerine max however has an amazing upper and it worked way better for me personally

Max. The Brooks looks like a next generation shoe.

Just got my Magmax pair, only two runs so far. I’m really impressed with the grip compared to my Novablast. These and the Deviate Nitro 3’s are my first pumas and so far so good.

Great review, although I didn’t wait for it to buy a pair. Was looking for recovery/ long run / cushioned shoe, and the Magmax seemed to tick all the boxes (at a great price too ~USD100 where I live after some discounts). Can confirm that I may have wanted to size up a bit, got my normal US9.5, and there’s less space at the front than I usually like. It didn’t cause any issue, but just a word of caution. On the ride, I initially felt it a bit firm (for a what I was expecting as a cushioned shoe), the foam broke in a bit by now, so the bounce is more perceptible. It seems the bounce is also depending on how on my gait, if landing mid-forefoot it’s fine, but landing flat to the ground, the shoe is more muted. Enjoying it so far. But I wouldn’t consider it as cushion/pillow type of feel, if that’s what people are looking for.

Have this shoe and love it up to about 8 min per mile . Best when you had a hard workout prior or a race and feel beat up . I got my normal size and it is perfect. If I am trying to push to 7 min per mile it is just working against the shoe. If going fast it is too heavy and soft ; it is a recovery shoe for sure . Recovery and daily easy miles it is delightful. I am 6’1” and 210 lbs and very different build from kofuzi and still like the puma mag max

Great video, the way you described this shoe reminds me of the Mizuno Wave Rebellion 2, high stack, firm and I believe the difference is that I can pick up the pace with Mizuno, like I wont be able to do with the PumaMax.

I have the full lineup, Deviate Nitro 3 Elite, Deviate Nitro 3 and Magmax and after never using Puma running shoes before I am super happy with my rotation.
