I can't believe that this will be our tenth year homeschooling! I am excited about our homeschool curriculum choices for ninth, seventh, and fourth grades this year. We will be focusing on World Geography and biology along with our basics and Morning Basket.

Pam, my kids only go to Geometry too! They were not math people, but my daughter, through shear force of will did get a B in statistics in college. We use the community college in later high school & then they finish up an associates there to save $$ before they transfer to the college of their choice. Thanks for the head's up with the Phonetic Zoo! I may switch after we get through AAS 4- 5 & 7 th graders are natural spellers, while my 9th grader is NOT ;)

I’d love to see a curriculum review of WriteShop! I don’t know anything about it. We are new homeschoolers and we are using IEW for writing. I’d love to know more about this program. We are also using All About Reading and Spelling, Singapore Math and we chose Elemental Science Earth Science and Astronomy for the Grammar Stage. Really liking our picks so far.

We started first grade with Abeka curriculum this year. I love the curriculum but my son doesn’t seem to share my love of it. I’m trying to figure out if it’s just school in general that he doesn’t like, or is it the curriculum. We did abeka videos last year and it was literally painful to get him to the finish line so I decided to do parent led this year. Twelve lessons in and it’s not going as I had hoped. I really love the phonics and it’s what he’s used since preschool so I’m afraid switching now will mess him up with his reading. (He’s not a great reader yet). This is all still new to me so I wasn’t comfortable pulling subjects from different curriculums and making my own plan. Any advice for this discouraged, confused and stressed mom?

I would like to know more about your spelling choices. How long does a Phonetic Zoo lesson take? Are they working w/a cd player and headphones? We're making some progress with TTRS (Touch-Type Read & Spell) and All About Spelling, but I'm always on the lookout for resources they can use independently. (7th, 5th, 3rd, 1st, and Pre-K) Thanks, Pam! I love these videos.
