Katana can cut through wooden armor surely, but not metal. 💀

Clearly the Talk No Jutsu didn't affect the Mongols 😂

Katana swords weren't even used that much in combat, most of the times they would use guns, bows and spears(naginata)!

One of these three claims is actually kinda true.

You introduce yourself, the other guy introduces himself, that way you and your mates can prove to your boss you defeated someone important and get rewarded for it. And even if you lose, that way people will know your name, very important back when few things were written down and news spread mostly by word of mouth.

As a corollary, it helps planning your strategy to know if you are facing Bob the killer of hundred men or Joe from accounting, while the enemy might decide to run if your reputation is scary enough.

This custom is why some characters in movies, manga and games make point of introducing themselves: it shows they either are important and famous or want to be seen as such.

Mongols did try to invade Japan two times but their fleet ran into a storm and much of it was sunk, helping Japanese defeat what was left. This is where the term kamikaze or "divine wind" comes from, as it really is more fortunate than average that not only did a big storm happen just as invaders come, but it happened twice!

Fun fact bushido didn't mean much after the arrival of flintlock rifles

1. The katana was not the primary weapon of the samurai, it was bows and guns later on as well as naginatas or the longer and more curved katanas called tachi
2. No sword can cut through metal armor

The Katana does not cut through armor. That’s not what it was made for. It is able to cut through the yoroi armours weak spots sure, but basically any blade could, because the weak sports were either not protected at all, or only through some strings, holding the plates together. First and foremost it wasn’t even the samurai’s main weapon in wars, as it’s blade easily gets damaged during combat, making it pretty much useless if your goal is to face multiple opponents over a long period of time, in addition to that, using such a short blade in comparison to spears, naginatas (basically spears with a small blade at the end) or even a bow and arrow, easily gets you the advantage while charging at an opponent on the battlefield.
Now in the Edo period, which basically is the long period of dictature, which up until it’s last few years, and the fall of the shogunate, the katana did become the samurai’s main weapon, as 1) they were forced to nearly always carry one in addition to the shorter version of it: the wakizashi. And 2) pretty much all larger weapons became useless due to there being no great wars in this time period. Now going back to armour. In the edo period it made sense to mainly use the katana for one other reason: very few people wore armour. Meaning they would need to worry about the exact spot were the cut landed.
Finally, the bushido… Similar to chivalry, the bushido, or at least the term itself was not introduced until the edo period, though the principles themselves did exist, it was not an absolute do or die, black or white code, as often represented in movies or video games. Samurais sometimes had the possibility to try to regain their honor. Only major infringements would mean death. The only difference to Europe was that they would force it upon you by suicide, and not execution if you were in the hands of your own lord.
Hope you learned something. If you disagree please let me know.

Katanas actually aren't samurais actually rarely used katanas they were known as a backup weapon as they could not cut they were only used to make people bleed out

The bushido was published long after the samurai lost most of their politic power

The katana was mostly a sword for personal defense and was seldom used on the battlefield. And they did bend and break.
... Welcome to the dark side of history: missinformation. And popculture.

The katana is one of the most sensitive swords ever made, it gets damaged just being stored face down 😂

A funny story is that the Samurai himself ended his era by fighting against his own state. But here it will be different because the emperor is paid by the lord.Shogunate

The katana is a quite modern thing in the whole samurai history. Check out the Tachi and Uchigatana that were used centuries earlier.
Also the bushido story is something post unification when the samurai didnt see much battlefield anymore.
