Usually, the phrase you are called comes from how well you shoot a basketball. Despite my lack of melanin, i am often referred to as a Colored person

thank you for thought I was losing my mind....I can now confirm that it's actually most of "polite" society. The first time I heard "people of color" I thought it was a joke...didn't realize people went crazy and think it's ok. It's condescending. Why do I have do be a person of color....why can't we call everybody else "people who lack color"....doesn't sound so pleasant now does it lol. Also it sounds weird...made me think of Milk of magnesia our something lolol you for being the only person to call this shiz out lol

I applaud you for being so enlightened about something that should be trivial, but I believe that the term “colored person” was used historically to distinguish black folk from others with regard to segregation of services and stuff. That’s why people consider it offensive. But in today you’re right it shouldn’t be offensive because society is mixing a lot more and more than ever. Thanks for being cool

I would 100% embrace being called a Nilla. Beats “fish belly white”! Kudos to whomever came up with the term… mainstream it!

I believe that the term colored person was used in times when segregation was law so it has that connotation but today races are mixing and society is a melting pot so you’re right!

With this whole double standard, hypocrisy and cognitive dissonance
situation going on in the US and i am here like don't use neither because the offensive word coloured is the same word like people of colour like you said and its just sad and funny that people don't realise that.
Also the fact that it just sound weird and wrong to call someone a person of colour and it goes unnoticed which is baffling to me
