I grew up in West Virginia at the time he was in HS, at WVU, and then with the Lakers. He was the schoolboy hero of everyone I knew. The only time I sam him play was when the Lakers played an exhibition game in Charleston, WV. He was good in the game, but seeing Wilt was more impressive to a young kid. My mother taught chemistry at his high school long after he was gone.

I've watched both Jerry West and Jordan play and Jordan was head and shoulders the best. Jerry West when asked about Jordan said Jordan was the best that there ever was. Period. Oh and any statement by Isiah Thomas made about Jordan should be taken with a grain of salt because it all just smacks of professional jealousy.
