"At a certain point, you come to realize the amount of control that the bass has in music, and what it’s really doing for the song. Suddenly I became completely obsessed with it, not as an instrument but as a power. For instance, a bass player can change the C chord that the band are playing into an Am7 if they want to, and that’s serious power.” - Bill Wurtz

I don't even know where to begin learning all of this.

I use that all the time. But I like to add the flat 2 (F in this example). I like the flavor it adds.

When holding down the bottom turns you into that impromptu solo no one was expecting and they kept it in the first take of the recording. Man… wish I had this guys ear and talent. 🤯

E minor Pentatonic is EGABD.
Played over a Cmaj7 chord, those notes are 35679.- Dm Pentatonic yields 24561.

Nick is hands down my favorite player the past few years. Every time I hear him play I put down YouTube and pick up my bass.

So if the Chord is Amin/C and he plays an Amin Pentatonic scale, When he says go up a 5th does that mean he’s playing an Emin pentatonic scale?

Don't see many Hagstroms. I have a 1966 model HII. Great basses.

I know it's not a competition, but I find Campbell more compelling than Dart.

I never thought of it that way. good tip.

Why is it fifth? Cause chord tones? Or is there any reason?

Can we use this concept for 3rd also? Or 6th or 4th?

Thank you for the video.
How can I transfer this to playing the string or double bass?

Bottom note? Is that referring to the root? Eg ..A (in your example) of the
A-C#-E arpeggios?

For those who know, where else can you go that sounds good?? (Other than up a 5th)
