can it be applied before the heat treatment? ive been looking for a video that shows them applying before entering the furnace, but I can only find videos of someone with a hot piece of metal in front of them rubbing the crayon to show the reading of the temperature. & I understand its for show only, but I would like to find a video with an actual before & after...

This seems a crazy product. OK, the crayon melts when it it reaches the indicated temperature but it will melt at ANY temperature above that. For example. If you have a 150 deg C stick, it will melt at 150C OR ANY higher temperature so you can easily have overheated the metal at any time before testing. You might assume it is exactly at 150 deg C but in reality it could be at 300c or a temperature that could be about to melt the item if it is aluminium for example....Quite useless I'm sorry to say
