Leaders of the Group of Seven wealthy nations have agreed to release more than US$20 million of emergency aid to help countries battle wildfires in the Amazon rainforest, French President Emmanuel Macron said on Monday.

The aid package comes as tensions flare between Macron and Brazilian President Jair Bolsonaro.

$20mil shared by 7 countries? that show how much they really cared for the environment. i think the PM's hotel n transport n bodyguards should cost more than that.

The fires are man made as a common agricultural practice that takes place yearly for crop rotation and the like in the same areas. The areas set are for the most part already farmland and have been for years. Satellite imagery of the area this time of the year has constantly shown that fires take place for agriculture purposes. The fires are not the problem in this situation instead people should focus more on deforestation in the Amazon and around the world.
