Rik Emmett, guitar
Mike Levine, bass
Gil Moore, drums/lead vocals
Rik Emmett is also lead vocalist on a lot of their hits. He is a phenomenal singer and guitarist. The studio version of this song also contains an extended guitar solo. I'm glad you did this song, it is one of my favorites. Check out their song Just A Game. Also Fight The Good Fight, Never Surrender, Magic Power and Blinding Light Show/Moonchild. Those are sung by Rik. I actually remember this US Festival concert. Hard to believe how long ago it was.

Rik Emmett was a monster on that guitar.

Look at how they have mics stuffed right up inside each drum. This is the only way to mic a band live at such a high-power gig. You can have each drum on a separate channel at the mixing board and balance the entire drum kit for the perfect balance between each drum. Brilliant sound production. This was the golden age of live rock music. He was playing most of that guitar solo by himself with no bass or drums in front of more than half a million people. Incredible.

A sample of what might have been-Terry Kath died in 1978. That night he was to have started recording a solo album after having played only with Chicago. His last recording with Chicago was a song with no horns on it called "Taking It On Uptown." His guitar playing and Ray Charles like voice were out of this world. Check it out. Thanks for showing Triumph at 1983 US Festival. They outplayed everyone!

I'm always amazed at how someone can sing and play drums at the same time. And, not lose the beat.

There were so many big bands during the 70's like Zeppelin, Black Sabbath, AC DC, Pink Floyd. Then you had bands like Triumph. The 70's was definitely the best decade for all genres of music.

Saw these guys a couple times in the 80’s. Haven’t recovered yet.

I got to see Triumph perform live not too long after they did the US Festival '83. Rik did a fantastic solo during the show, and even did the 'shatter a wine glass' thing with a sustained note during the solo. The whole show was phenomenal. They put on the second best show that I have ever seen...as Rush (who the guys in Triumph were friends with) had the top spot.
