I gotta wonder about these “budget mountaineering outfits” when a Nepalese license for ascending Everest is US$11k. That’s not including travel, insurance, equipment, lodging, guide, etc.

No one needs to climb a mountain. It’s a luxury. luxury items and frivolities are expensive for that reason
