This is a very good analysis of an interesting song, although I have to disagree with one sentiment of it. When I listen to the song and read the lyrics, it sounds more like someone who isn't happy with their decisions regarding a past relationship (like you said) but is simply looking at the other person being happy and fabricating their misery. I feel like this is someone watching someone else they have feelings for, and is desperately envisioning that they are actually in a bad place (in this case saying that this other guy is being inappropriate where there's no evidence that it isn't consensual between him and this girl) just to make himself (Benjamin) the hero in his own mind.
