World Hepatitis Day is observed on July 28th every year, aiming to raise awareness on Hepatitis and encourage prevention, diagnosis and treatment. For the last 3 years, the theme for World Hepatitis Day has been "Find the missing millions".

As per estimates, there are around 290 million people worldwide living with Hepatitis - be it chronic Hepatitis B or chronic Hepatitis C. Hepatitis is a group of viral infections that affects the liver and causes serious problems in a fraction of people over a period of time. But many are unaware that they have a hepatitis infection which will affect their liver.

Only 10-15% of people with a hepatitis infection is aware of the problem. The remaining 85-90% Chronic Hepatitis patients are asymptomatic and these people are not evaluated for any liver-related issues or any viral infections which can affect the liver and hence remain unaware of the problem. Once they develop the symptom, or cirrhosis, or end-stage liver disease, they develop various complications like fluid accumulation in the abdomen or jaundice or encephalopathy of the brain. So, it is essential to spread awareness about Hepatitis, especially the common ones - Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C which affects the liver chronically.

To avoid liver-related problems, it is important that you get yourself screened at any health care facility. Continental Hospitals is well-equipped to treat all liver-related problems.
