Awakening in the darkest forest, with only the whispering of trees to fill my ears, I could sense it, taste it, feel it. The power beneath my feet, the crispness of the air caressed my skin like feathers, every move I made to get up and look at my surroundings felt slowed. Like I was moving faster than the world was. A bee floated passed me, like it was swimming and I could see its tiny wings flowing smoothly. Never before had I felt such strength and awareness. Where the hell was I? What was this feeling under my skin? The sky above wasn't blue, but instead, a pinkish orange. Once I was moving through the trees that almost felt alive as I touch their bark and escaping out into the hills in front of me, the world I had once known was flipped upside down. The family I had, the friends I made, everyone I knew, was gone and all that stood before me was a vast land of a never ending setting sun. And there stood a kingdom made of obsidian gold.

Naratha slowly smiled a her father sitting on his throne. “I was just told that the southern states are planning a rebellion.”
“I am aware”
“I know. After all I started it. You didn’t think cursing me would end well. Did you?” Naratha voice went quiet as she spoke.
“It wasn’t a curse and you can control it. If you don’t I will. And as for that rebellion I’ve already sent soliders, the pitiful army you managed to gather will be destroyed in minutes. So stop this foolishness and control yourself, or I will.”
The whites of Narathas eyes went black, the dragons on her arms twisting. “You made me a monster.”
“We are not talking about this here. Clear?”
“Yes father.”
“Good. And stop calling yourself a monster. You’re only a monster if you can’t control it.”
Naratha turned away from the throne, letting the dragons twist and separate off her skin.
“Control yourself.”
The dragons lunged at him, killing him in an instant. “No.”
Naratha turned back to the throne, picked the crown up and turned to the stunned courtiers smiling.
