Main stream media is owned by corporations so I have lost confidence in their reporting

When you can’t compete, you say EV slow down 😀

In addition, the cheaper EV models are only beginning to arrive which will boost sales.

The chart is saying exactly what the media is reporting... EV adoption is doing great in China but plateauing in Europe and America.

I would rather just hear the BEV numbers…PHEV’s are still ICE cars

The charts shown count plug-in hybrids as EVs, so it's not just BEVs doing 17 million sales.

Mass media is helping legacy stay alive as long as possible due to the massive amount spent on adds. However, that gravy train is about to crash.

I just bought a Model 3. After the $7, 000 price drop the RWD is $54, 900 before on roads. A $3, 500 rebate from the government, straight into your bank account to spend on whatever you like - it’ll buy me a Tesla charger & installation and cover insurance for the first year.
you can also apply to your electricity provider for an EV plan that drops the rate/unit to near nothing between 9am-3pm, when you might want to charge your car or power your home a/c.

I wanted an EV for years but couldn't afford one. But this year the prices have dropped so much that I finally jumped and bought an EV. And all I can say is I wish I'd done this years ago. Any doubts I had about range-anxiety and public charging, I was completely misguided, they've been non-issues. This is the sixth car I've owned - four petrols, one diesel, now an electric - and I can't go back. I cannot see myself owning a petrol or diesel ever again.

And I don't imagine my experience is unique. People are going to switch in droves as they learn through family and friends what owning an EV is really like. There's no turning back. This is the start of the S curve and the adoption is going to accelerate.

Worldwide sales will increase but in the U.S. sales will continue but much slower than in China. Once the Tesla charger becomes industry wide, in America, I think sales will really start to grow.

I feel sorry for the owner every time I see a brand new ICE on the road

Thank you Sam for all the info, in the stats could you please split total EVS between plugins and Bevs and track trends. Thank you

As soon as the majority of people can afford an EV the sales will go up. Up until the last few years it's been those with money and the desire for a nice new toy that have bought EVs.

If I was in the market for a semi-new car myself in South Africa, the only car I could think of getting would be a 2019 BMW i3 (~R500 000 ~= $28, 000), and that's still a lot more pricey than a similarly sized *brand new* Renault Kiger, Nissan Magnite or Hyundai i20 (~R300 000).

Of course it's in a different league when it comes to build quality, but those are the options I would have if I didn't buy a house.

I still don’t get why PHEVs are lumped in with EVs one is a gas car the other is an EV I don’t get it 🤦‍♂️

more than half the price of petrol/diesel is a tax. once EV sales take over completely, what is going to make up the loss of gov revenue ?

Nice job! We still need to assure that the battery supply keeps up with the rapid expansion. I am interested in an all electric minivan and no such product is available to me. The EV's keep getting better, so being on the sidelines doesn't hurt so much.
