Road Trip from FLORIDA to IOWA in Five Days

We're embarking on the 2024 summer roadtrip, starting from Miami, Florida, and heading all the way to Forest City, Iowa, to attend the Camp Winnebago rally. This is my first solo trip in a while, with a mix of travel and stops for maintenance on Starship, including a recall and addressing some trailer brake issues. Along the way, we tackle traffic delays, unexpected weather, and the challenges of solo travel, but we also enjoy the convenience of RV living, like cooking on the road and staying at campgrounds. The journey takes us through various states, including South Carolina, Kentucky, and Tennessee, with scenic views, pit stops, and technical challenges like managing power on the road and picking up packages. While we deal with a few bumps along the way, like traffic and a broken set of glasses, we’re on a mission to reach our final destination by Sunday, making the most of the open road and the freedom it offers.

🚗We travel towing a one of a kind Winnebago Micro Minnie 1720FB FLX

Love an old school road trip video! And you finally drove through our neck of the woods in east central Illinois and we got “arrowed”. 😂

So much fun to hit the open road. Thank you once again for including the highway numbers when you are driving. Really makes it easy to follow along. KOA is interesting. We used to consider them great value, but it seems to me that the quality is not as high as it once was and the price is very high compared to what it once was...this opinion of course is only based on ones we have stayed at in the last few years. We were on the road just under 200 nights in 2023/24 and managed to stay in KOA for only 6 of those and based on my current opinion of KOA I consider that a success. Hopefully they can pick up their game again. Continued safe travels....

It's good when you have a "no hurry " destination. And watching the road trip from your camera on top of the trailer, gives you a general layout of the country. Thanks for the cooking show . Going to make breakfast.

Another great video! It’s so odd, you went to Spain & they had flooding, you went to Orangeburg & they had flooding, N Carolina & Tennessee also flooded. Thank goodness you missed all of that!! As always, safe travels, Robert

This episode really captured the feeling of being on the road for me...traffic starting off, rest stops, Buc-ee's billboards, downtown detours because of construction, etc. Thanks for taking us along.

You passed by near my house when you were at I26 in Spartanburg, SC. The stretch of 26 and 40 you took is very nice. Hope to drive on that stretch of 40 when it opens up next year.

My family is from Iowa except from me raised here in Texas. Use to go to Iowa every year to visit grandparents and cousins. Last time I’ve been to Iowa was when I was 17 which is 35 years ago. Will be making it back in 2025 to see our childhood areas. Great video as always

As always, I enjoy your videos. For some reason, watching this video made me forget about my everyday life, work, etc. Maybe because I will be in Indianapolis for Christmas.

A bit of a "cold open" in this episode, eh? In the beginning, seeing all your gear in the back seat reminds me of traveling to gigs in an old van back in the day. Love the scenery and greenery on the roads though the mountains and Kentucky. Until next time, happy trails!

I see the appeal of Pelicamp, nothing better to find a free campsite/hotel after doing a whole day commute from Miami to the northwest Florida.

Nice trip other than for the crowded campgrounds. I avoid campgrounds for one night stops. Rest Stops, Truck Stops, Forest Roads, Walmarts and Cracker Barrell works better for me and is much cheaper.

That dish looks delish, but too dangerous for me while on the road! Despite an onboard bathroom! 😮

About how much water do you travel with, like a 1/4 or 1/2 a tank? I don't travel with water in my tanks, but it would be handy to be able to take a shower or use the bathroom.

Pelicamp Appalachia is a wonderful idea!!! I would visit. We would love for you to have a base in Tennessee. Seriously, you should do a tour of Tennessee State Parks. Fall Creek Falls is our favorite. You have to check it out sometime. It is not far from Monteagle Mountain. I know you are familiar with that place along I-24.

I'M CONFUSED. If you released this video earlier today(Sunday 11/17/24), then how are some of the other comments a day or two old?
