Part 3 in my search for the best backcountry toilet! I hiked to Washington's best backcountry toilets to discover which one is the best of them all! The finale of this adventure is an overnight backpacking trip to Sahale Glacier camp, the highest elevation camp in the North Cascades with unparalleled views of the mountains, and home to the greatest toilet in the world!

This series is a love letter to trail workers, volunteers, and anyone who has taken it upon themselves to do the vitally important work of managing human waste in our parks and public lands. Thank you for your work and for your dedication to helping us all Leave No Trace! 💚

This was probably top 3 backpacking trips ever for me. That view from Sahale is the best I’ve ever seen. The stars at night were more clear than I have ever seen them. It was as if I had never seen stars before. Every time in my life that it feels like I can see the wonder of the world as if it’s brand new is something I consider such a gift.

Ive really appreciated the tidbits around rules of usage for urine vs defecation at each stop and why. I would love to see this series continue for more locations (states? Countries? Climates?) and see how different places deal with the same issues.

My teen always seems to walk into the room when I'm watching Miranda Goes Outside. She just came in and asked, "Why are you always watching this woman poop in the woods?" Because it entertains me, child.

Thank you Miranda & friends. I loved this series. Not only for the toilets but the views of your hike. For a lady from the Midwest I have had a smile on my face for the entire time of each video just seeing the beauty of your hikes. Keep up all the great work & thank you for your inspiration you give us! Love you guys!

The Longs Peak toilets in Rocky Mt National Park have a long sordid history, but the new ones won an American Institute of Architects award. Thanks for the content, this was fun.

I would love to see you do a series about backcountry toilets throughout the entire US.

I truly appreciate your video about this topic. I've had the great pleasure to have been to (but not used) all the toilets you cover in this series and I agree Sahale is awesome. Your comment at the end is right on target, we should appreciate these toilets, carrying your poop is not a fun thing.

I won’t dispute the grandure of the view. Incredible! But I don’t get enough warning to pack an overnight bag and walk up a rock strewn mountain for more than 5 miles just to poop. You have my gratitude for doing it for me! Great series gang!

Miranda! I’ve sat on that toilet with a small audience not far from it! The views are definitely out of this world!

Hey Miranda Goes Outside crew! Its Tony, Jen and our little dog Charlie. It was so cool to see u guys out there on the Cascade Pass. We had an absolute blast in Washington especially over in Rainier. We didn't even plan on going there until you guys gave us the recommendation for the skyline and burrough's trail and so we spent our remaining days in Washington at Rainier. Thanks so much for giving us the local dig on the area, hope you guys get a chance to make it over to Glacier at some point (just try to go off peak season haha). More adventures to come, hope to see u guys out there again!

I snowmobiled on a trail in Colorado that had toilets that were amazing but enclosed. The poo stalagmites were all like 50' tall and frozen solid. Still dumbfounded to this day what kind of heavy equipment they had to bring in to dig out these out houses!? I've never seen anything like it before and never again. It was like 200 miles worth of snowmobiling trails way out in the mountains. All the business was frozen solid so the little shack just smelled like an evergreen forest.

The epic music when you found the toilet was great.

Hi! I love watching your videos! I'm trying to learn about hiking/backpacking so a lot of the equipment is new to me! So what do the short gaiters do for you? Do they keep stones out of your shoes? Why don't you use netting for the flies and mosquitoes you encounter, are they a bad idea? Your videos are always so entertaining and so informative! I love your sense of humor! I just turned 60 but I love being silly and it is so refreshing to watch you and giggle along with you and your editing (I laughed out loud in part 2 with the flying saucer and the zillow ad🤣)! When I do hike it is so much more fun when you're able to use your imagination to keep your mind occupied and the hike goes so much more quickly! I'm so happy I found your channel! Thank you for being you and being so genuine for us! and yes, I had lots of questions about pooping along the trails and you have helped alleviate so many of my old lady worries! (PS. I have to use a cpap, i have a portable one but the battery is quite heavy, can you do a video with other backpackers that use cpaps and their solutions? my battery is about 4.5# and I've used it for off grid car camping, it's been great! but that's heavy for backpacking I fear. batteries for cpaps can be quite costly do you/or anyone know of any solar options for smaller ones? Thank you again!)
