Singer, Songwriter. The daughter of music singing legend Nat King Cole, she became a multiple Grammy-winning recording artist with hits that spanned three decades. She was a pre-med student at the University of Massachusetts when she joined a singing group, setting aside her medical career. Her solo music career was launched in 1975 with her debut album that included the massive hit single "This Will Be (An Everlasting Love)", which would earn her a pair of Grammys for Best New Artist and Best Female R&B Performance. She would go on to top the charts with hits that included 'This Will Be', 'Our Love', a cover of Bruce Springsteen's 'Pink Cadillac', 'Jump Start My Heart' and 'I Live for Your Love'. Her 1991 multiple Grammy-winning album 'Unforgettable: With Love', which included a duet with her late father, became the biggest hit of her career, selling more than 14 million copies worldwide. Early in her career, she struggled with success, which led to a devastating cocaine addiction that sent her to drug rehab in 1983. She received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame, wrote a pair of memoirs and starred in a 2001 made-for-TV movie 'Livin' For Love: The Natalie Cole Story'. In 2009, she underwent a kidney transplant after hepatitis C forced her into dialysis. Her cause of death was attributed to congestive heart failure.
