The crime gang has its fingers in almost every pie, whether it be social, political, or the economy. Their influence looms over all walks of life, having left a greater impact on Chinese history in comparison to their British colonisers. Initially founded as a nationalist, patriotic society, they vowed to drive the Manchu invaders from China in the 1600s. They also played a pinnacle part in allowing Chinese Presidents Sun Yat-sen and Chiang Kai-shek to rise to power, indicating both their influence and importance in Chinese history.

A number of inaccuracies in this video. Firstly, while triads may have been initiated in the past by drinking animal blood and sacrificing animals, that's not how it happens, and different gangs have different initiations... A triad gang in Hong Kong in the 90s would have new members pay $3 and 60 cent Hong Kong to their new boss as a symbolic gesture, and offer them tea on their knees. Also, while the vast majority of members were local Chinese, they also got members who were partially Chinese, white, Filipino (who could speak Chinese), to join, because that was a way to funnel drugs to a wider market... so this Willis guy (whom I've never heard of), was not the only white guy to be a part of the triads.

It is true that the triads recruited from people looking to be a part of a family, but also places like housing estates where people were poor and didn't have much opportunity, but also recruited people who were good at fighting... they would go to martial arts schools to recruit, and many of them were either affiliated or ran martial arts schools as recruitment grounds. I remember going to an opening ceremony of local Thai boxing gym, and it was full of triads, as were a number of traditional kung fu schools I visited.

This video lacks a lot of information, and gives some inaccurate information also.

Weren't the Triads as you mentioned in the videos basically crested as one of those reform groups in the late Qing dynasty who wanted to reform or overthrow the government? So less criminal more equivalent to like the Freemasons in France (where a lot of them were involved in the French Revolution/used it as a vehicle for revolutionary ideas)
