If I remember correctly, the book value of an capital asset is determined by the COST of the asset less accumulated DEPRECIATION. However, book value and market value are often very different. Assuming their capital assets consist mostly of satellites and the equipment to operate them, if the company were to liquidate itself to pay its investors, their capital assets might be close to worthless as far as market value is concerned. "Price-to-book value" of .9 is a useful analysis tool, it doesn't imply that the shareholders might be better off if the company was liquidated. Does this sound correct?

What do you think about imaging for war, defense, insurance, etc.? Not all their customers are related to sustainability, I think. Regardless of left or right, conflicts are arising everywhere sadly, so PL imagery could be more attractive?

They should go down a little bit more and become part of rocket lab. They will only have to change the first word of their name and get to keep Lab lol

Any chance of having another look at these three stocks Planet, Blacksky and Spire and whether you think much has changed, improved or deteriorated. BKSY and Spire both have Revenue of just over 100m while Planet is 230m and Planet has a lot more cash on hand than the other two. Then there is the recent dilution of Bksy to raise funds. Do you see any value in any of these companies and in your opinion ( because I value it ) are things getting better or worse for them. The rate of growth at Planet still seems slow but they have just launched the Hyperspectral satellites that I presume will bring new customers and revenue. Many questions around this part of the space market.

I like the dark light setup when you discuss negative developments of a stock ^^ Like i said before it is never really nice to see a huge percentage drop in your investment but as a space spac investor from day one i have already been there and done that. What worries me about PL is the low price to book value. Correct me if i am wrong, but that basically means the market does not believe the value of the assets that PL has on its books. So either market is extremely careful and might even sense fraud like in the case of MPW for example or maybe market discounts the fact that satellite constellations are a tough thing to sell to other owners if the company should go bankrupt, so market maybe expects PL to sell their assets under their original cost basis.

I find that alot of the tech and data that "we" (US based Sat/surveillance) are used for the earth but is really meant for exploring other planetary objects and comets for both research minding and utilizing the resources for certain missions on Martian territory, and current battlefield enviorments which are harsh and volitile like surfaces and atmospheres of other surfaces or objects. Haven't really seen anybody talking about this stuff but trying to or wanting too do better for earth is hit or miss however you look at it... it creates industry that gets that quiet money to develop. So I like PL specifically for this aspect, plus the commercial use case is amazing... I use it almost weekly with my current university studies. Could be a trap like you said but I see heavy surveillance benefits of PL vs almost all other company's for both commercial and said and unsaid gov contracts in the future.
