Thanks for the vid. Do you know which wheels are braking when parking brake is applied? are the brake pads and disc been used or we have a different parking brake "drum / shoes" just for the parking brake? (2023 Toyota Rav 4 prime) .... Update: After removing the rear wheel to install the mud guards I found out each of the rear brake calipers have an electric motor that apply mechanical pressure to the brake pads after parking brake is applied. The front wheels do not participate when parking brake is applied, they do lock (at the transmission) when the shifter is moved to "P" like any other front wheel drive car.

This feature was draining my battery. My Rav4 would die after 1 day of not driving it, took it to the dealer they couldn’t find nothing wrong. I found this advice to turn it off on Reddit and no issues since.

This knowledge is very important regarding not damaging the Parking Pol when the vehicle is on a SLOPE.
My understanding is it's GOOD practice to ALWAYS first put the vehicle in NEUTRAL with your foot on the brake pedal;
THEN set your EMERGENCY BRAKE while your foot is STILL on the brake pedal;
and THEN finally, set the vehicle in PARK with your stick shift.
Thereby avoiding the weight of the vehicle resting on the Parking Pol.

What is the external squeak you hear every time the parking brake is applied in your video? This is different than the mechanical noise you hear inside the cabin when the parking brake is applied. I just started hearing this noise when taking my foot off the brake in park after 2 years. So far, the dealer has not diagnosed an issue.

I recently have seen the message “ EPB shift interlock function activated” on the dashboard right after the engine on, then the message goes away with 16K mileage on the car. Boss is it true that the gearbox will damage in 2 years if you don't used the correct procedures in parking an automatic transmission. I'm using the electronic parking mode. They say that be sure your car in complete stop, put in neutral, release the brake pedal, set the parking breake then move the shifter to park. Thank you so much Boss.
