Why spending below your means can (literally) save your life

Hi there, I'm Eileen. Today's video might be a little heavy but it really highlights the importance of intentional spending. As much as I enjoy a good luxury bag and some sparkly jewelry, the true luxury is living below our means and appreciating what we have. Chasing to impress others is a never ending game, and one we should not sacrifice our financial freedom for xx

Some books that have helped me look at spending very differently

Thank you for watching this video about the tragic cases of Brandon Miller and Rakesh Miller. I hope this video has given you some insights about why the true form of luxury is spending below our means xx

I like my handbags too but tbh true luxuries are health, peace of mind and having time with loved ones.

Downsizing is alright. I have learned the hard way that being debt free is better than luxury

Both these stories are a reminder once again that things are usually not what they seem on social media. So tragic, particularly for the children.

I gave all my luxury bags and coats etc to a women’s shelter on Black Friday a few years ago.
They were all given to me by my ex husband who never valued spending time with me. Nor did he value monogamy.
I do not want the memories associated with him. And I feel so free now. People always compliment my style still to this day, and purging those things was symbolic for me. Now I hope they have helped so many women find jobs and feel confident. ❤

There’s is so much comparison to rich people now. Everyone wants to be rich without really knowing any rich person. When people say rich people don’t do this and that. My response is to not bother yourself about what rich/affluent people are doing.Just be yourself and enjoy what you have.

I never fall for these so-called perfect influencers; oftentimes it's never the case. I flex on being debt free and finding deals on anything and everything I buy that I only need.

My mom was a kid during the great depression and one of the stories she told that always stuck with me was how so many people committed suicide because of their debt load when the depression hit and being unable to keep up with payments. I think in the back of my mind, I've always kept that thought with me when it came to my finances. We need to worry about US, not what everyone else is doing or thinks.

And That is what most Trend/Aesthetic followers fail to grasp: Quiet Luxury isn't about Being Wealthy; Quiet Luxury is about Staying Wealthy. Great Vidi 😎☕💋

Wise words. There is nothing like being happy within or below your means.

I don't like luxury bags or cars (I drive a 10yo car) but what I love more is a good and sturdy house that I own and I consider it as a luxury to be a homeowner these days. I don't care about having the latest aesthetic house interiors but I like to keep my house clean and tidy. For the nice things, I love buying quality yet a bit expensive shoes because I end up wearing them for years.

I agree with you. But one must remember that bags and clothes are just things that are replaceble. What realy important is, are your familie and true friends.

When I stopped posting online (2 years ago...) I started to see what I valued...but I realized that even in real life there is the keeping up with appearances..even to strangers. These stories are gruesome and heartbreaking, and whilst lessons can be learnt....lives were taken and destroyed and that is hard to come to terms with, we are only guaranteed ONE life. Its better to LIVE life rather than to live for a superficial lifestyle until it all burns.

When you start living for other people, that’s when problems step in. Live for yourself an original is worth more than a copy.

This was an excellent topic. It’s more popular to pretend than to just be and to be content, which is peace itself.

Hi just found your channel today and want to say thank you so much for this video. It has grounded me. I live in a small apartment with my husband and daughter and need to be more grateful. We may not have a lot of money, but we love each other dearly and laugh a lot.

Yeah, I've never felt like a target in my 21yo minivan. Retired in 40s and nobody really knows. Wealth should whisper.

I saw the Miller’s story. It’s so sad but it’s a huge lesson. Don’t live your life to impress others.😥 This poor man knew he couldn’t keep it up and it turned out tragic.

I love that quote that living below your means is true luxury; so true!

I totally agree with you. It's mostly our ego or rather false ego that drives us to make financial mistakes.

You couldn't have touched upon this subject any better than you did... thank you for the gentle reminder to stay true to ourselves and be grateful for our good health and loving relationships ❤
